Has anybody ever used one of those dohickies that bolt to the carb pad to pull a engine with? Are they safe? I don't have a lot of room to work with on the motorhome to pull the motor out, so I was thinking about using one of those. It's a 460 with a factory cast iron intake, a heavy engine for sure. I think I will just pull the engine and leave the C6 tranny in place to help lighten the load. Not going to be able to lift the engine but about 4-5 inches, then it will have to come straight out the front. Any thoughts on the matter?

I use one quite often. No problems. I've pulled the 302 and the c4 together. :)

Good deal Don. I didn't know if the 460 would be too heavy or not. Not sure I'd trust one on an aluminum intake, but on the cast iron I was hoping it would work.

We used one of them in August to install a Boss 429 with the clutch and bellhousing and it worked just fine with the aluminum intake.

They work great, and pretty much that's where the engines balance point is,anyway. Just get one from a good known manufacturer.:)
