I was wanting to know something. Was thinking of bumping up the drag racing on Thursday nite by adding an additional hour. Start at 4:00 instead of 5:00. This will give us an extra hour of daylight, so we can race an extra hour. It also means we have to leave the hotel around 3:00 pm in the afternoon Indiana Time. What does everybody think?

Sounds good to me!

We're still planning on being there by Wednesday anyway. (Looks like Darryl and Lauralea will be joining me this year).

Geez, that means I'll have to leave home at 5 AM. How late are we allowed to race? Seems like after about a couple hours of racing last year everyone was just sitting around eating pizza anyway.

Sounds real good to me....I like the extra hour cause I want to do a few group shots with the video camera.
One thing I would like to do is get everyone lined up in the staging lanes(preferably have cars race against each other that are fairly equal) then set the camera in between the lanes at the 1/4 mile mark looking back up at the starting line. Hit the play botton(and of course just have the camera on a tri-pod out there...not a person) then have the cars race down the track. I think it would make a cool video having the cars come barreling by.
So the extra time would work out great in my book.

I did'nt race alot last year cause of lack of support from other six cyl. motors. IT'S ONLY SO FUN GETTING BEAT ALL THE TIME.
This year I think I'll try to make it look like acircle track like others did last year. EXTRA HOUR SOUNDS GREAT. John

Yea, lets see who can come the closest to it. I wonder how much damage it will do?

Dont let that stop you. This is a fun race and "Fun" is the operative word. I do things for the fun of it and dont really care who beats me. I raced mine with the basically stock 6 banger for years and had a blast. Was almost always on the bottom.

Maybe I have an advantage being a noncompetitive type person. The only person I compete against is me. And I'm easy to beat.

Sure hope they have the timers working right this year. That was kind of frustrating. I made 6 or 7 runs and only had 2 timeslips to show for it. The fact that my fuel pump crapped out made my only 2 timeslips look really bad. :o I'm putting together a new short block (thanks John Fasig) and hope to have it installed by then. Forged pistons = more nitrous. :D

We are arriving on Wednesday. So another hour of racing is great with us. Like Barry said, I hope the tree works well this year.

Barry....you might have had more times slips.....it was difficult to figure out who got what....some were tossed in the trash....or blew away. :)

That wouldn't be the case if it you guys ran bracket-racing. Let everyone get two-three time trials to dial in your expected e.t. then get that advantage at the christmas tree. It's much more fair this way. It's similar to street racing - you give a guy a head-start (or set him out a few links). The staff can dial in the numbers on the board. It's nothing new.

I assumed you guys were doing this already.

I can imagine the beatings taking their toll - this way (bracket racing), the one who cuts the best light and runs closest to his dial-in, wins! (unless he breaks-out or red-lights).

I won't be able to attend, but I'm sure the bracket method would be much more fun for everyone.

You could add to that, a trophy for the quickest e.t. and the best light (closest to .500).

Just my 02/100ths.

Good luck, have fun and be safe everyone,

Rick

ANother hour sounds great, I think alot of us were all ready there last year at that time.

Rick, yea bracket racing would work, but the track just turned everything over to us. Even needed someone to set the tree on our own.

Trash the joint. :D

Okay, maybe not. But, you might could pay someone who works in the tower a hundert dollars or so to work the tree for your event. Just a thought.

Who gives a someone a head start in a street race? Not in my neck of the woods.

Craig, did you ever decide on a earlier start?

Craig Selvey

Yes, I decided on 4pm Indiana time (Same time as Chicago). I haven't checked with the track yet...but it shouldn't be a problem (I hope).

same as Chicago???
I remember the old preacher always saying at the end of his Sunday service.
"Don't worry folks, its only 12:30 in Chicago"

That means you guys are an hour behind us now????

You central state Hoosiers and your time zone "issues". :D

Yes...we are behind you now (in "time" that is).

Indiana and our skrewy time issues.

C'mon, you never suckered someone into a race by giving them 'links' or 'the move'?

'Was doing that in the early 7embdies. As far as I know, it's still done today (I don't street race - too old to go to jail with teenagers).
