I found this laying around in my shed. have no use for it,it came out of my 71. it has been trimmed on the right and left edge of the head opening, silver paint is fadeing. dont know what it's value is. part # DODA 18842-A can someone tell me the value of such a part?
was there once a how to on cutting one of these up to install new unit into them? I cant seem to locate it. i put in search, even checked the audio thread's.
Just cut it to fit the case of the newer unit. Most new stereos have a metal cage you install first then slide the head unit into it. Use the cage for your outline. It ends up being just inside of the inner crome recrangle on the bezel. pretty easy to do with a dremel. Back when I did mine I used a small hacksaw blade and a drill, then filed the corners to make them square.
not Fill, Filed. With a metal File. I drilled at the corners of my outline I made with the radio cage. then used the hacksaw blade to cut out to the corners. then used the metal file to square the corners where i drilled.
Value is $10-$18 based on what I've seen them go for...here's the link to trimming one out: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=67804
