Getting new hood, don't want to poke hole in it. Suggestions?

    Oops, "holes".

    Currently, I have hood pins, and removed all the stock hood latch stuff.

    Not really fond of the stock latch, anyway.

    Any other suggestions?

    Whats wrong with the stock latch? I'd think you'd want both, and have the latch as a back up in case you forgot to put the pins in..

    How about some of those super strong magnets???
    Seriously though...I have gone 140 in my blue mav with the stock hood latch with no ill effects. If you are worried about theft...put a chain on it so it cant be opened all the way. As long as the latch is solid and the hood/latch are adjusted properly...You wont have a problem Scott...Good luck!!!

    What kinda hood? I would think the options are either the pins, latch or both. What else could there be?

    Grabber hood. Will be a little while before I mount it, since it has the typical lip rot that needs to be repaired.

    make it open towards the front of the car.
    check tom hackmans (thack) hood latch. i was told he used a mustang one.

    Mine flips from the front. I used flat stock steal and made the brackets and fabricated a small hanger box on the hood. It works fantastic take the hood off in 2-3 minutes and put it back on about the same no adjusting. The hood latches against the cowel with a import hood latch. Without the blower I used 2 small hydraulic arms that held it open.

    Stock hood latch is quite strong! Just lube it and get new springs if they're rusted. :thumbs2:

    Only rear opening cars I ve worked on I cursed every one of them. Make it easy to remove if your going that route.

    That bad, huh? :huh:

    I was wondering about that. I will need to look at some pictures with the hoods up and see what I think...

    Maybe it will force me to leave the hood DOWN!
