measurements for sport mirrors

    could someone give me the measurements to fit sport mirrors on the doors of a 1972 Maverick

    It's funny that there are dimensions on where on the door to locate the mirrors. One time at Carlisle we were looking at the row of Mavericks and noticed that from the factory there were 3 different mirror mounting locations.

    Mine are installed further forward. On my sons car we moved them forward as far as we could and still cover the previous holes in the door.

    I would second mounting them further forward than the stock location ... I think they would work better a little forward. They seem to have a very small range where the view is good in the stock location.

    As a bonus, style-wise, I feel that they would flow with the lines of the car better if they were tucked a little closer to the A pillar. Just look at my green Comet below. The passenger mirror was placed there to duplicate the stock drivers position. Looking at it, it just screams at me that it needs to be a couple inches forward to look right.

    Get a helper to hold the mirror when you are in the driver seat, and see if this pans out. I would be interested to hear other's opinions.
