Ok Ok I know I am opening up a can of worms saying the opinion word but we can keep it all civil.

Here we go, a little background I am looking at putting aftermarket wheels on my car 17" diamater 7" to 8" wide.
Now I can get a really good deal on some of the late model aftermarket rims. 5x114.3 mm with a 42mm offset. Now these would require me to run with wheel adaptors (or spacers as some would call them).
These would be the bolt on style, I wouldnt run the slip on style with studs that long because they would probably have to be 1-1/4" too 1-1/2" wheel spacers. And yes I would make sure the centerline of the wheel runs over the bearings like wheels with the correct offset so I wouldnt be putting excessive force on the bearings
The car is primarily a daily driver, but i will probably take it down and run at miller motersports park a few times or go down and do the local drags this summer running the rims I choose.

Now I have been flogging it in my mind for awhile, and i am still on the fence, but I am coming down too the wire, with me messing around with my steering my tires have worn funny on the front and need too be replaced here very soon, so I figured some other opinions might shed some light on the matter.

So here comes the million dollar question/opionion...

Would it be ok for me to run the wheel adaptors in all of these situations... Or should I continue too save my pennies and get some rims with the proper backspacing for my car.

The price for the wheels and wheel spacers would come in just under $500. The price range for the rims I am looking at with the correct backspacing for my car run about $800-$900. Im not counting the tires in either instance because they are going too be the same either way.

Since I am a Technical Inspector for the SCCA.................the SCCA will not allow wheel spacers on any race vehicle.................they do this for a reason...................they are not safe........under any conditions!
As the old saying goes......DIRTFT.................Do It Right The First Time..................IMHO
