does anyone make the hood stripe stencil for the 70 grabber yet if not how do u get it painted on and look original?
There is no stencil. What I did was photograph and measure the hood in every possible way. Then the body shop guys spent a ton of time laying it all out in tape. It was a lot of extra time but the end result was excellent. The black we used for the hood and tail panel, was Hot Rod Black by SEM.
I did the same as Eric. I have pictures of the hood stripe. Email me DIRECTLY (see below) and I can email you all the info I have.
Not sure what the one for 1970 looks like but I know there are a lot of different stencils and decals available on E-bay.
With the right measurements I could possibly cut one, I would need detailed measurements/dimensions but it could be done, even at your local sign shop, might be a little pricey.
For those not familiar with a 1970 Grabber - it was a painted hood and was only used for about 6 months, before the 1971 hood with the 2 small scoops. Here is a picture of my stock, unmolested hood.
If someone wanted to do a pencil-rubbing or tracing onto paper, I could scan it and then draw a vector layer over it in CADD software and then we would have a .dgn file to 'share' with anyone who wanted a stencil, or a decal... I could even supply the paper (for the tracing) if needed.
I know, but those are the stencils I plan on getting for mine But that's a 70 setup! Although mine is a 6 cylinder I want to order it without the words Grabber on the sides. I had a Boss 302 back in the mid-seventies. There was a Grabber in the neighborhood that had a different on them in a C stripe around the fender and door. It was the only one I've seen and I've not seen one since then. I loved that car actually and would like it setup like that one. It had a 200 ci also.
