Just got an email that the shipping labels are created I have been waiting for a long time and talking allot of ifs and whens. I been watching ya'll make progress while I eat donuts and post allot of like's haha.. Well.. The day is coming very soon where I can actually work on one of mine and see if I still got it. I've learned allot in doing so but will most likely be back here to ask questions or opinions.. My plan is to dive in and not stop till I can drive it. It's the 72 so I am not doing any body or paint.. Just getting it put back together and DRIVE Once that is done I can concentrate on making the 73 into what I always wanted it to be. It will not be 100% concourse perfect, but it will be 100% to my satisfaction.
When I bought the 72 I didn't know it had been done. I got there to pick it up and realized it had the cross member in it. The seller told me who made it so I went with them to get all the parts needed to put it back together. It's a "Street Rod Engineering" kit. http://www.streetrodengineering.com/Products/hubtohubmustangifs.htm
Way to go, Gene!!! now I'LL have to step up MY game so that you don't get yours done before me and embarass me!!! I still remember you warning me that my project may grow very deep and take several years to complete...now here I am! Good luck with the build!!
Thanks guys.. Tom at HRE informed me that the parts come painted black. Back when I first inquired with them he had told me they were bare.. I had planned to paint it all Rust Bullet metallic gray. http://www.rustbullet.com/ProductCa...category=120&gclid=CJT75e_207UCFQXnnAodfSUARA That may be one set back.. I want to see what the parts look like. If I need to order the paint, then that will be my first hold up. Then painting and allowing enough time for it to cure real good. In the mean time, I am anxious for the weather to get better so I can clean up the empty engine compartment and maybe even put a coat of black in there since it is empty after all.. I prefer body color but this one is black so that will have to be for the 73..
What is nice about brushing on Rust Bullet is it is so self leveling, it looks like you had it sprayed on when it dries
Seems I am getting the parts one a day.. See UPS rant post.. Springs came yesterday. Here is what I got today..
Scott it's a sway bar. It was $200 and includes all hardware. The UPS guy showed up again.. This time he brought the rest of the boxes. The tubular arms and such.. Here is a pic of some brake parts..
I like those drilled and slotted disks. I will have slotted on the front and plain on the back, and I hope it doesn't look too bad. I have a spare set of spindles, stock height, if you need them.
