I have replaced the rear quarter extensions on my 75 with early Grabber ones, but I have not yet attached the deck spoiler. I have the attaching hardware and know where to drill the holes, but was there some type of sealant or gasket used, or were they just bolted to the deck lid dry?
I seal the 4 big holes using 3M body caulk strips. (picture of course is just an example of body caulk use) Nothing on the edges.
Andy's spoiler I just put my Andy's spoiler on my 76 comet today very disappointed in it. The holes for the sides where there is 3 studs only has 2 and had to drill new holes and the fitment is horrible For the deck lid lip. And the ends are not boxed in there hollow and will fill with dirt and crud so needless to say being patient and buying a oem is the way to go. But now Iam this far I just gonna fix it all and be happy. That's my opinion on the spoiler.
you could shim that end cap out....you could also fill the hollow areas with expandable foam and cut it flush like they do for houses, then seal it.
You know there is supposed to be a gasket between the end caps and the car, right? That looks to be about how much it's out of alignment.
Shire can I will here after Christmas. Ya it's jut on to mock it up see what I'll half to trim and fill the only problem with the gaskets is there is no gasket holder like on the stock end but well get her fitting good. Thanks for your input guys The spoiler adds to the cars looks just wish they were about a inch taller.
I think the spoiler looks pretty good. Considering the OEM parts are hard to find, expensive and over 40 years old, I would consider purchasing one of these reproduction spoilers.
That was my experience as well Frank. The spoiler conformed perfectly to the trunk lid, but then it took quite a bit of adjusting to get the lid to somewhat line up.
