so I'm looking into this relay/controller/temp sender, all I would need is the taurus fan/shroud then wire it all together right? I need to do this ASAP since my new rad is a much bigger aluminum 3 core unit. and lastly can someone point me in the direction of a good wiring diagram to make this all work? I'm not wiring savy at all.. thanks in advance. here is the relay/controller/temp sender http://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-16749/overview/
I looked at the info and I saw instructions included, but I must on the fence of the taurus fan or an eBay fan
are you wanting to run the two speeds? if so you will need the Volvo relay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/261422207796?lpid=82 plug and play...
right into the summit relay controller I posted? I saw the thread about it and if I remember it runs at idle and higher Speed correct?
Not to sound rude, like some others i have heard from, do you need an electric right now, is there a cooling problem?
the Volvo relay has a high/low setting. the Taurus fan runs on either high or low. most relays will have both running at the same time. when it goes to high the low side has to loose power. the Volvo relay has two signal wires...one for the low and one for the high. when it calls for high the relay switches the low off and the high on. when it cools down to the low setting it switches the high off and the low on. From Volvo controller the large red & green wires go to fan motor . red wire #2 to high speed green wire #1 to low speed From the fan you have 3 wires 1 high speed 1 low speed 1 ground wire the ground wire needs a good clean body ground. On the Volvo controller you have 2 small gauge trigger wires one yellow/white#1 and yellow#2. These wires control fan speed via ground (thru temp sensor for low speed or high speed )
I have the Volvo relay with an Escort fan and a BMW dual temperature switch on my car. Low speed comes on at 180 and high speed comes on at 189.Works real well
The summit fan controller you listed is intended for a single speed fan. You "could" use it to control either the high or the low speed of the Taurus fan. Or just get a single speed fan. As mentioned, I would try to use a dual speed Taurus fan, dual speed Volvo controller and the dual temp BMW switch. That mod is well documented, so it should be easier for you to implement.
There was a wiring diagram for this somewhere on here I believe? Also how would you make it cycle on with the a/c?
Let me look around for the receipt.you will also need a metric to standard fitting for the sensor since it a 14mm thread
