ok so my plan is later down the road im gonna end up dropping an efi 5.0 but until then i wanna take the I6 out to just make i lighter to move around while i work on it and to prep the engine bay.

my question is....is my engine really worth anything.....my dad is fascinated by it....but i thjnk is just nostalgia from when he was yonger lol, im thinking take it out and take it to the scrap yard for the metal.....what do you guys think???

If it's a good running engine(smooth, no noise, no smoke, no or little drip) advertise it for $200-$300, if you can sell it you'll be way ahead of scrap price...

    Keep It

If your Dad is fascinated by it I don't think anyone on this board can put a value in $$$$ on it......one day you'll look back and be glad you kept it if for no other reason than your Dad being fascinated by it I assure you!

put it on craigslist and remember mavericks arent the only car that came with that motor. the interest is growing with the older guys who want to slow down a little now that theyve aged a bit, guys are buying these motors for there old classics like mustangs and falcons that came with I6's even some of the jeep guys want these old motors because they almost NEVER die
since the motor is int he car and running you have an even better chance of selling it.

I JUST sold one yesterday for $200 and I dont know if it runs. he said he was going to put it in a mustang after rebuilding it

I see a lot of Fords at car shows that retain the 6 cylinder and are kept in stock condition - I would think that your inline 6 cylinder engine might he a bit more rare than a V8 :)

I gave a short block 351w away that was just sitting in my garage, just to get it out of the way.

I sold mine a few years back to a guy who was going to put it in his girlfriends Mustang. Throw it up on Craigslist, you should be able to get a couple hundred bucks for it.

I threw away a perfectly good slant six just to get it out of my way garage space is more valuable to me than something I will never use
