No, the supports will stay in place and not be removed unless you as a individual wanted to go through the troubles too. Lol
If bolting it in, I would run bolts through the supports too, adding a bit more triangulation. This will increase how much adding this panel will help stiffen up the car. I would use a screw or bolt every 6 inches or so.
.030 AL is way too flimsy for that big an opening, holes will slop over time, and will make more noise. Probably also need at least 5052 grade for reinforcement purposes. Either that or step up in thickness(.080) on the cheaper stuff. I'd want to use thinner, lighter, stronger myself.
The panel will be stamped for additional support. I will know more Monday or Tuesday 31st/1st. Until then, I am in Seattle on a business trip.
You should put beads in it down the sides, so people won't have to bend the side support lips down, to get it to sit flush.
I made my own. Used the structure of a four door trunk lid and some 22 gauge strips to fill in the holes.
Not to take business from this guy but scott rod fab makes them still if the original poster doesnt. I'd like to see if theyd do a group buy. I'm interested in 90% of what they make for the maverick haha
I think Levi's been coming back around here again lately and life just got in the way. He's a pretty industrious kinda guy with much fabrication experience so I wouldn't count these panels out completely.
I don't see the point of it. How does it benefit the car? A partition made of Masonite would work just fine and be a lot less work. That's what I have planned for mine.
