Since I the gt was an inline 6 I had to get a new accelerator cable and bracket. Picked these Lokar pieces up and installed them. Linkage is really smooth, another quality piece by Lokar.
Brazilian maverick gt tach overlay that is sold by a member on this site. Not too bad of an install. My lens has yellowed pretty good. 1969 mustang is a direct fit.
I got re-motivated after looking at a few builds going on so I got back to the comet. I redid the seats on the comet after buying a seat cover set from a popular member here on the site. Not a great photo but its what I have. The foam was redone as well, I still need to redo the driver seat but the rears are done.
I've been searching for a console for the comet. I like the Mav/Comet consolette but they're scarce. So I picked up a mini console off eBay from a 70's mustang. It still needs to be trimmed but ill do that when the carpet goes in and that will be after paint. The shifter is a gold base Hurst short throw.
The ride height was too high with the tcp coil-over kit. After some notching and cutting on the upper bracket I got the desired height I was looking for Before After cutting and welding. Installed, painted black and final ride height.
I picked up a 1 1/8 sway bar for the front. It's for a 65-66 mustang. Here is the stocker and the new one. Pretty close in dimensions, with the 65-66 bring a little wider. I only had to elongate the mounting holes to the body. It's still a little off but I'll change that later if I have to.
Decided to go with the autometer in dash gauges. I'm still deciding wether I want to drill the dash for gauges or just use cups mounted on the lower tray. If I use the cups I'll cut a hole in the dash for a radio.
Started removing the paint. I'm using a ain't remiving wheel Let the wheel do the work, don't add too much pressure or stay in the same spot for too long. You can warp the panel you're working on.
That is how I removed all of the paint from mine - same type of disc but bigger and fit in my 1/2 inch drill - made by 3M - kept the speed down that way
I also tried the dupli color aerosol can style paint removal. It worked pretty good maybe even better than the aircraft paint removal stuff in the can. I'm trying a combination of both. It's working better on the factory paint than the fender that was repainted.
Getting closer, pain in the arse but will turnout a better product in the end. I'm contemplating in doing the paint and body on my own but what takes me an hour a competent body man will do it in 15 min.
