As of yesterday afternoon, my tow rig changed. Out with the '99 F250 V10 Super Cab and in with a new 2013 F150 V6 Eco Boost Super Crew. Should help my mileage a bit once it's broken in.

It will either be great or it will be one of these moments.

I have a 2012 FX4 super crew with just under 36,000 on it and have nothing but good to say about it. If I can drive without the need to play around town it gets 15 to 17 and on the freeway 20. I will say that in the winter months the mileage is less I dont know if that is because of cooler temps or winter blend gas.

I pull a heavy travel trailer about 8,000 loaded and it pulls it like a dream, I did put airbags in the back to help keep it level as it will squat the back enough to make headlights shoot high. When pulling the trailer it gets around 10 -12 but it seems like everywhere I go is uphill. It handles the hills quite well and there isnt a hill I cant pull at 65, sure it will shift down to do it but rpms still stay fairly low.

Give it sometime to get broken in and mileage will increase especially when it gets warmer

Just bought an 02 Dodge 2500 Cummins w/ a manual 5spd,high miles but in excellent shape.Going to put a Raptor100 lift pump on it & do a few cosmetic things to it,open wheel tr.The car & tr. will only weigh about 5000lbs,should do about 18mpg towing around here,it`s not real hilly & it`s a quad cab short bed. This trk will do anything I need it to do,plus it has the 5th wheel set up in the bed so it will tow anything. It will be my daily driver & believe it or not it`ll do 25mpg on the interstate at 65mph.

Borrowing picture from the other thread...

We have always used the truck, but now that we have the diesel 4X4 grand cherokee, we can tow in style!!!

It has a tow capacity about 300 lbs less than the truck. Much more creature comfort.

Very nice J,a wise investment for safety & damage to your car.Last yr one of the Pro Stick guys from Maryland had a blue fox body stolen after one of their races on an open wheel tr,a very fast 8 sec 1/4 mi car.Fortunately they recovered it in a couple of days without to much damage done, they were very lucky.

thanks, It is ridiculous how many cars and trailers are stolen. I picked this one up for 4k so I can't complain. Here is the inside, the previous owner built cabinets for a living.

Those are some REALLY nice cabinets!! You got a steal at 4K for that trailer.

that's what I said lol. The trailer is 10 years old with a few dents and dings but looked better than the 4k new made in ga specials. He told me it cost aroud 500 in materials to build the cabinets and they would cost a customer around 1500

Couldn't resist! I actually downgraded last year on capacity but upgraded everywhere else. Sold my 89 F250 and bought a Tacoma, I don't need a full size truck now that the horses are gone and we live in town.

Ours isn't as grand as some on here, but it sure gets the job done for what we need it for.
