What did you use to peel the metal back to a 45 degree angle to be able to remove the frame?

I am going to have to do the same on a Grabber hood I picked up. Going to extend the nose a bit, and would like to repair it.

Installed the engine and t5 (Thanks for the help Jim). Now I have to adjust the cross member so the t5 sits at the proper angle. The headers gave us a hard time as usual but we won in the end and the headman long tubes are a great fit compared to the 6901 hookers...

Well lets see, when it started smoking really bad I stopped, got out, lifted the hood and saw oil cooking on the header just under the rear of the valve cover, kinda makes me think that's the problem, I had it stopped for a bit a while back but it started up again a few days ago, been trying to stop it since then, does it on acceleration at about 3000 rpm, and I have checked to make sure the oil return hole is not restricted, just seems to put so much oil up there at one time it finds it's way out, 60# oil pressure at 3000 rpm and 40# hot at idle. :hmmm:
Valve covers are new, elite series Edelbrock.

If you go slow and take your time it will do minimal damage that will be easily fixed when folding the edge over. The real pain is the gorilla snot holding the skin to the frame but heating the frame help loosen it's grip. Another useful bit of info, both hoods I've de-skinned had twelve spot welds, four on each side, front and back.

Have you tried these gaskets. Felpro #VS13264T. I had the same issue and switch to them about 2 months ago and good so far. They are rubber with a steel insert.

Are you sure the bolts are not too long and bottoming out before the valve cover seals? One or two extra threads is all it takes to cause a leak

Yeah I checked the length had over 1/4 inch left, good thinking though, quite a possibility, but I wish it were that easy.

Any chance the valve cover has a crack? Might switch them from one side to the other and see if the leak moves.

I have checked it for any flaws, looks straight, I saw noting wrong at all, the passenger side isn't leaking and I really don't wanna mess with it, right now I have two cork gaskets on it but can't try it out, raining really bad right now, lot's of lightning and I realized that I don't have a grounding strap on my metal shop building  not going in it till the weather is better, then it becomes a matter of being able to get out on the muddy road, I took the little metal rings out of the felpro cork gaskets to see if that helps, just waiting for the weather, but that could take a while :hide:

Thing is I can run it in the shop all day, but as soon as you add RPM + acceleration it leaks, seems to me it's putting such a large volume of oil up there it can't run out fast enough, and I have checked the return holes for blockage with my camera, it looks great, no restriction at all.

Beginning to sound like maybe wrong PCV valve or pressure building up causing the engine to push oil out
