A/C Drain Hole Location

I'm about to install A/C and I looking for a pic of the A/C drain hole in the floor pan. I can see the dimple behind the bellhousing, but on the top side I have 3 layers of Peel & Seal and didn't want to remove more than needed. I'm thinking a pic could help me zero in close on the location better than the try and error approach.

 

It pretty much a straight shot down from the drain fitting. I'll see if I have a pic.

 

If Dave can't find his pic - I will take one tomorrow. What type AC you installing?

 

I found a very nice factory AC from a early 70 Maverick in the junkyard...no cracks...shinny metal. Still can read the ink stamps on the box

I tried to find pics of mine, but I think I was too aggravated that I had plugged mine and mummified it under Peel-n-Seal, that I didn't break out the camera.

You are probably OK if you have a 1974 vent going into the 1970 plenum, but if it doesn't fit, it may give us a better clue as far as when the hardware changed. Let me know if this all fits, and I will update the tech article, OK?

We took a center punch and hit the bulls eye on the first try.

 

I'm not going to use a center vent. We pop riveted tin over the plenum opening and sealed with RTV silicone.

 

I sealed off the center vent also. I never had a problem. It is a shame to have that ugly vent in the middle of the dash.

Glad to hear the center vent can be deleted without problems. Here is how we sealed the center vent. I'm finding out the hard way that it's more time consuming to installing an AC in a car from scratch than I though it would be. Took all day to rebuild the box and install. Still got to finish the vacuum lines, wiring and duct work before moving on to under the hood
