What do you use to clean the inside and outside of the plastic washer reservoirs to make them look new?
On the clear plastic portion, I used muriatic acid to get rid of the deposits. Then removed the nicks and discoloration with 1500 wet dry sand paper. You need to remove the lid and take out the pump. Micah
Lid is just pressed on and most of the time it just pulls apart to separate. The key word here is most of the time..........
Can you guys post pics of yours? Do you just use silicone to glue it back on? What did you use to clean the black top?
The lid is a very tight fit. You will almost pull your finger tip out by the roots getting it off. Just snap the lip back on the jug
Agree .......... No sealer needed. Think of it as being like a really tight Tupperware lid. To save your fingers, here is a trick. Use a sharp wood edge, like on a workbench or door frame. Catch the edge of the lid and pull on the reservoir body. It often pops the edge up. Once you get it started just work it around and off. Have never broke one but I have had a few that were stuck tight. Maybe somebody at one time glued them ....... :16suspect To put it back on, yes, just snap it back in place .............. Here are a couple pics to demonstrate.
After getting the lid off...keep rinsing out the jug with boiling water to get up to 98% of the yellow out. Tooth paste makes a good rubbing compound to get the rest
It worked failry well for me. The wet sanding got rid of all the nicks and scratches. It also got rid of the outer layer of discolored plastic. For me, several areas were discolored all the way through. Mostly in the thicker sections. It looks dramatically better and is about 80% back to clear/white. I have heard the boiling water trick. I will give it a shot before I reinstall it to see if it does anything. Micah
