Yes it is..... It's a Rostra aftermarket unit.....

 

Today I made a bracket to mount the brake pedal stop, brake light switch and cruise control cable - also needed to bolt to the brake pedal bracket..... After making and test fitting it I removed the bracket and gas pedal so I could paint them.....

Here is the bracket on the bench, installed, then the bracket and gas pedal hanging for paint.....

 

Looks like you are mounting the cruise control cable to the pedal instead of the carb?

Yes sir, there will be enough crap under the hood..... It didn't need anymore clutter from the cruise control.....

 

Today I got the brake pedal, switch/stop/cruise bracket and gas pedal all installed..... Then after moving some stuff around I got my dash panels down and finished taking the last components out of them..... Last thing I got done today is set the original dash in place for mock up purposes..... I am trying to decide if I want to use the gauges I have or opt to get a Racepak display.....

I am ready to buy one, I think I am anyways..... I am bringing the steering wheel and driver side seat to the shop tomorrow so I can mock everything up and make a decision.....

 

I brought my driver seat, steering wheel and gauges to the shop for some mock up..... I bolted the dash in place, then put the seat and steering wheel in..... I put the speedo/tach in place and then propped a gauge up in the ash tray hole to get an idea what it would look like..... I have to make a decision to use the gauges I have or to just get a Racepak display.....

I took everything back out and make patch pieces so I could fill in the headlight switch hole, ash tray hole and fasten seat belt light hole..... Then I welded in the patches and ground everything smooth..... This was no easy task because the dash is only .032 thick.....

Here it is with the seat and steering wheel in place.....





Here it is with the instrument cluster added and one gauge propped in the ash tray hole approximately in position.....




Here the dash is back out and I cut the needed patch panels out of the extra dash.....




Here is the progress welding the patches in and grinding them in.....

The dash is only .032 thick, and also has all those cuts in it, so that when you crash and hit your head, the dash dents instead of your skull. As a kid, I left a pretty good concave area in the dash of his 65 Impala. I was standing on the seat and he stopped short. Such was the thinking before airbags .... sigh .... amazing we all made it to adulthood ....

I have decided against the Racepak..... I talked to a couple guys I know who have one, they said the only problem with them is you can not read them clearly at a glance like a regular analog gauge..... Being that I do quite a bit of racing I would like that ability.....

 

I love two-tone seats... I'm jealous. Dash looks good! I'm glad you went with gauges, I think they look good in our cars, or any old car for that matter.

 

Your dash came out nice - I'm filling in the heater and wiper area also on mine - everything is going in the console
