I had it done at Hajjar's (aka Micro Plating) in Ecorse at Van Born and Cogswell. My understanding is this was a two step process (nickel and chrome) not the three step process (copper, nickel, chrome). I hope I got that right. My bumper was very solid and no dings with just a couple places underneath where the chrome was flaking off. I took it in about three weeks ago and he was saying he had about a 10 week backlog but he said he would squeeze me in since I had a car show coming up. Guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect it to be done in a week or two. I talked to Kevin. This place was recommended by my interior guy.
Where abouts in MI are you? I'll be at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor with the Comet on Friday (10-9) and Saturday (10-8). If you're there stop by and say Hi.
Hey mick ...my name is Bryan i met you at bakers in milford ..i have the lime green maverick....i came and got the fender from you......well you will be happy to hear ... i just got her back from paint and now just waiting on my engine block to get back from the machine shop! I should have her back on the road hopefully by JUNE!!! Im sure you wont even recognize it as the same car! Your comet looks great! I love the interior panels! NICE JOB see you soon!
I'm on the west side of the state but do have the day off tomorrow so I'll try to make it. Look forward to seeing it in person.
Just got back from dropping the car off at the show. They're expecting about 120 cars. I even saw a green 75 Maverick there. You can't miss me I'm right in the middle in the front row.
Tim, Sorry I missed you at the car show on Saturday. I decided to take a judging lesson at the show and was gone for three hours assisting one of the judges. It was very interesting and eye opening to see what the judges are looking for. It's amazing what you find out about the cars when you take a flashlight to them. Now I know why my car will probably never win a best in show and I am definitely OK with that, my intention never was to win a bunch of trophies. Also I don't intend to put the amount of effort (elbow grease) or money that it would take to get my car to that level. I get all of my enjoyment talking with the people at the shows and helping other people relive their childhood. I'll be at the next show in Mount Clemens on April 20-22 maybe I'll catch up with you then.
Not yet. I have to get the power steering control valve replaced and then I'll have him take it to Milan Dragway on one of their Test and Tune nights. I might have him do it during the Roundup this year in July since that is one of the optional things to do on Wednesday night of the Roundup.
I was just going back through my thread and rereading some of my comments. I said I would never win best of show and would never put in that amount of work on my car. Well I am a judge now for our club and I do put in all of that work to make my car "best in class worthy" I just participated in two indoor car shows this month and took first in both shows. I dropped off my seats at the interior guy last week and after three weeks my seats will finally be done. I will post pictures as soon as I get them back. This Comet has been winning so many awards with just seat covers I think I will start to say "No Judge" at most of the car shows. I don't have any more room for the trophies and that was never really my intent. I just wanted a cruiser and have already put over 11,000 miles on the car. I have car shows planned out for almost every Saturday and Sunday from now through October.
I meant to say three years not three weeks. I have been waiting for the money tree to grow for three years. I purchased all of the materials over three years ago and the end is finally in sight.
