I need everyone's opinion, I'm planning on going with a matte black paint and eliminating all chrome on the car including the small bumpers, what do you guys think about that? Something like this? http://www.generationhighoutput.com/barrett-jackson-2013-1969-chevrolet-chevelle-malibu-454/
I really like the matte black, with or without the chrome. Would also look good with gloss black racing stripe(s) up the hood and over to the trunk lid. Scrolled down a bit...that Chevelle has them.
I'm pretty much doing the same thing for my son's car. I ordered some "Dead Rat Flat" from Eastwood. But I'm planning on glossing the old chrome once it's painted or powder coat it.
I agree that that car looks plain but I'm planing on satin metal rims to off set it all and gloss grabber stripping, plus in the next few days I'm ordering maverick mans sweet carbon cowl hood and I may leave it unpainted.
With the hot wheels stripe design in gloss vinyl wrap http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/'71_Maverick_Grabber?file=$T2eC16V,!w0E9szNZI-(BRF)Kt1,Wg~~60_57.JPG
Keep some of the stainless steel trim in there at a min. here is my mav flat black and I painted the bumpers like a matte sliver i love the look
My first car was flat black before flat black was cool (1986)! I had a clapped out 66 Malibu that even the bumpers were rusted out on. Several gallons of bondo and a case of flat black and the car actually looked decent. I say go for it!!!
It's too common anymore. It is old hat. I am tired of flat/satin black anything. Won't waste my time looking at anything done that way, it's getting boring. Did used to race against a dirt late model that was gloss black with all sponsors done in matte black and a silver number. It made a statement but that was 10+ years ago. JMO SPark
