Hello, this is my first post, I need some help with my disc brakes. I bought my maverick with no brakes. After removing the front wheels I noticed that the calipers were missing and now I know that something else too:hmmm:. I finally had some money to get the parts so I went ahead and ordered the calipers and pads at oreillys, today I got them and I tried to install them but oh surprise! In my first try I saw no way where they could possibly be attached to so, I went ahead and did some research here in the forum and I found that all they need is one allen head bolt and the rest are clips and metal plates that gave me some hope so I went back to my garage and I saw the same:(. Back to my desk, more research and I found and image that clearly shows what I need(circled in red). The questions are ¿How are those parts called? ¿Where can I buy them? ¿Can I get them from a different car(just those parts, keeping my spindles)? Thanks in advance.

i would call those caliper brackets. they are not made new. you will have to find a good used set. this will be hard because people wont want to separate them from complete kits.

Does your car have the original drum brake spindles yet? As they would not have caliper brackets nor a way to mount any.

Can you post a picture of your spindle?

As Eric stated....with your car being a 1972, it would have DRUM brakes unless somebody has changed them out for disc.

This place makes the caliper brackets NEW....not sure if they will sell them separate: www.DiscBrakeSwap.com

I used this site and the guy did sell them separate! I think it was $78 for the pair and even sold a pair of backing plates for cheap too. Everything comes powder coated and looks really good.

I will ask again - Are you sure you have disc type spindles?

Thank you for asking. I was going to reply on the first one with a picture but anyway, what happened is that I am working on a´77 right now that does have disc brakes, It is just missing the calipers. The guy I bought from said that he had to move and left some parts behind... Still I don't know why did he remove those caliper brackets:hmmm: but well that´s another story.
