I am lucky enough to have a Deluxe Maverick gas cap on my Maverick but the clear lens in the middle covering the maverick steer emblem is all cracked. Other than that it is in decent shape. Is the clear lens separate from the maverick steer and can the lens be replaced by drilling out the rivets that holds it all together? What is the best way to put it all back together?
Yes, the clear part and the steer head logo are 1 piece. You can take it apart but there is not much you can really do with it. Maybe find a donor cap with a good emblem and crappy chrome. You could then swap the best parts together.
I have one that I took apart and I'm going to tap the rivet holes and use screws to put it back together. I was going to try and replace what I thought was a piece of acrylic but I discovered that the emblem is all one piece!
why not just have a print shop or like office max make you a new emblem thats either s sticker or a piece of photo paper or something more durable and have an acrylic shop make you a separate cover then put it back together like that with screws?
in mexico they produce this kind of replace emblems, but they are far away from beeing as nice as an original. i bought one to try, and will see if i really put it on the car. id say froom 10m and somebody who doesnt know mavericks as all the guys from this forum wont notice it... http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-449539006-emblema-ford-maverick-289-302-tapon-de-gasolina-parrilla-_JM
