Well I took a few years off, but decided to try some racing again. I did a bunch of upgrades including a geardrive for the supercharger, bigger Procharger, and better oiling and fuel system. Also switched from a 28x10.5 slick to a 26x8.5 slick for Outlaw 8.5 racing.

Well I blew up the motor at the first race back in April and did quit a bit of damage. I was able to scrambled to get it all fixed and rebuilt, as well as changing over from a blow-thru carb to EFI.

Made it to the NMCA West race last weekend and was able to make some progress. Went 135 mph in the 1/8th and made the semi-finals. I hope to go much faster and get close to 4.99 in the 1/8th (best with the old combo on 8.5's was 5.32).

The street car crowd seems to like the stock appearance and it sounds pretty mean with the Procharger F1R. Here are a few pics.

I run a water tank in the trunk with no radiator.

In order to run the gear drive I had to cut out a ton of metal in the front: radiator support, valance bracket, valance, and cross member (if you still have one). But it opens up the engine compartment nicely and makes it much easier to work on the engine.

How are you going to run the tubing?

I don't have a cross member so that won't be an isssue. I just installed an M-II front suspension, replacing the AJE, in order to completely eliminate shock towers. That will give more room for the blow thru piping.

Hope you have great luck w/ the car,I don`t have any exp. tuning that set up,but I`m sure you want to stay a little on the rich side.I`m sure a lean cond. even for a short burst is disaster.

Glad to see that you are back! I went from the blow through carb to EFI over the last year as well. I'm still stuck in the tuning and learning loop. What did you use for your computer?

The last NMCA race I got it figured out a little better. Went to the #1 qualifying spot on the last qualifier run with a 5.28. Did a wheelie and quickshift in the semis but still ran a 5.26 at 139mph. In the finals I did a wheelie but it went left towards the centerline. I came down, got back in it and then went right and crashed into the wall. I was able to save it from a big head-on crash, so the damage is minor. Just a big dent in the rear quarter panel. Next race is in Vegas first week of September.

What's going on with yours Mike?
