I spent a few minutes today mocking up the new flip top fuel filler and the taillights. Always a good idea to fully assemble all the parts for mock up before paint. If any adjustments need to be made now is the time.

Totally forgot about you asking for this, sorry.

Measurement between the frame rails is 26.5" measured twice, both towards the front by the radiator and again before the trans tunnel. Same measurement.

What's going on under the back? Is that the Cal Tracs sticking down?

Yes, those are the uncut studs from the U bolts that look goldfish in color, and the Cal Tracs.

It's called Labor Day for reason right???

Some of you may have noticed recently I was on the hunt for a good clean rear valance. I did have a couple offers, but not quite what I was hoping for. I did however find an NOS one on Ebay that looked really good. He wanted $250 for it, I got him down to $200, but just couldn't justify that.

So in the shop I went and started to pound on mine and get it straight. At the same time I started to cut the openings for the rear exit exhaust. Once that was done I started thinking it might be cool to make a section of the pan have a "step" to it. So I cut it and welded in some 1/4" rod to form the step. I also welded the pan in place for a really smooth clean look.

Here it is with the body work done and in the first stage of primer down. I will block it out later this week and then fix the minor little issues it still has and then put it in final primer.

It's funny looking at the right exhaust opening looks like it isn't even with the "step" but I have measured it 5 times and it measures dead on? Must be an optical illusion?

I am still not sure I am in love with it, but it is done now and I am not going backwards now. It's down low on the car and will not really be seen once the car is on the ground.

I am also happy to say that I was able to find NOS quarter glass for the car. This will go right along with the NOS rear glass and door glass I acquired last year. Yay, all new glass for the car, very happy!

New glass makes a huge difference. I polished all mine with Farecla and was amazed at the difference.

I couldn't imagine going to this level of a build and putting the old mildly scratched glass back in the car.

So summer time progress is slow. Too many diversions. House, wife, kids, horses, car shows with my 32 etc, etc……..

Tonight I installed the nose. I wanted to see how it all fit together now that the suspension is installed and it is sitting on the ground. I can also now do final body work and prep it for paint this winter.

I am in love with the stance.
