my sons car (curb hopper) has a 5.0 with a t5 with stock gears 3.00 Im guessing and his first gear is short but fun and it pulls hard through to 3rd gear and his hydrolic clutch isnt even set up right just yet. it works but not quite like it should and he gets good gas mileage with lots of power
he wants to put 4.56 in it since we have them but I told him hell be spending a ton on gas.

the t5 is lots of fun to drive but for the boy I think he should start out with a AOD a t5 might get him into trouble just because how fun and easy it is to let that clutch fly :D

i have a t5 5.0 combo as well and uh.....yeah you can really let that thing fly :chirp: very fun to drive and if the driver is responsible and can hold back his lead foot (its hard i know) then it'll be a great choice for your application. you'd be very pleased with it

Remember that there are different length input shafts on various years of T-5s as can be seen in the link below. Make sure you get the matching components.

Probably because the late model stuff is all geared similarly...

My T5, traction challenged, 2.73 geared, '86 Stang with crappy E6 heads, could run 14.50 all day long and get 26 mpg... That motor nosed over at 5300 RPM, spinning it higher was useless...

My son's Comet is running a 5.0 with a few tweaks and an AOD with a 3.80 gear. It is a very nice combination with good performance and economy. I myself run a 421W with a beefed C4 and a Gearvendors and a 3.50 gear. This is a great combination because the stroker has gobs of torque. I went with the Gearvendors because I had a lot of money invested in the C4 and I got a good deal on the Gearvendors. I think either way is good, it's mostly personal preference.

An A.O.D. should be just fine with 4.11s. Keep it simple.

    Without Overdrive, I'd suggest 3.25 to 3.40.
3.55 is fine in city driving, but at 75 on the highway, it's a bit much.

My Maverick has a manual trans, and I get tired of shifting gears.

For what it's worth, I was studying the Street Demon carbs and nice little disclaimer they have "these carbs are not compatible with the Ford AOD trans, how lovely

Only because the carb doesn't have a lever to attach the TV cable(that's a absolute must)... With a Lokar cable setup or some creative engineering, any carb can be used with a AOD...
