I agree.....I think that is why it works on the Mustang.

Here is one of my cars where I had it behind the rear tire....but not in front of the front tire.

The point being that it makes a significant difference in the appearance.

Agreed, it sure does as I had hoped it would. To me the Mustang stripe is too abbreviated and short. But that's just me. Clearly here I am not doing anything on my car that matches up with what the factory, or most others have already done. Bucking the trends can be fun. I am building this car for me and with my eye as a hot rodder, not as a muscle car guy or restorer. If what I am doing bothers anyone, or they don't like it, well then great it must mean I am on the right track.

I put that picture up of the Mustang only as reference to some comments about the stripe being too low. Not that I am trying to copy what the Mustang has. I am taking its stripe design and putting my spin on it. Like it or not.

Funny thing about this message board is all the negativity lately. For some reason there seems to be a ton of it. I posted the same pictures in the Maverick group on Facebook and instead of negativity I got all positive comments and likes as well as page shares. Maybe what I am doing to this car can't be appreciated by the masses here on the MMB that think a quality paint job is done in a barn for $200 and can't comprehend a guy building a Maverick to a more of a street rod/pro touring style and having over $20k into just parts alone.

I appreciate you keeping us all up to date on HERE as well as on FB. Don't let the detractors on here get to you (or get to anybody else for that matter). The detractors on here, while being the most vocal, are a slim majority. I think most on here just read and never post a thing....and I know they appreciate all your hard work and sharing it with the rest of us.

I'm not sure who was making negative comments, but it certainly wasn't me. I love what you've done to your car, and I like that you're not doing what "everybody else" does. And yes, the only person who needs to be happy with it is you.

Edit: Your car sets the bar high, as does Cruzin Illusion, Craig S., Dan Hines, Rayzorsharp, and a couple others. Those are not the typical hack-job cars that I see so often that give Mavericks/Comets a bad reputation.

I agree, if I see something I don't like or agree with I usually just keep it to myself..... I someone does something to there car there happy with I say good for them..... I have to agree with you on the quality of build and expense, I am not exactly doing a street rod/pro touring build but more of a street/strip build and it can be costly at times.....

Your stipe idea is interesting..... I think for me it would depend on the color combo, I am more into suttle type stripes then bold ones..... If you like it I say definitely go for it, because weather it's some ones taste or not high quality work will always be appreciated.....

i did not mean for my post to come across as a negative. i apologize that it did. i was thinking that you saying that you didnt want to go with stripe that is on to many cars and that you were not totally sold on this one, that you were asking for ideas. again im sorry that any negativeness came from my post and i only have the utmost admiration for your and the level of your build. please dont hold back on your build thread. it is great inspiration for me and many others on this site.

Guys, My comments were not directed at any one individual. My feelings aren't hurt, I would have to have some for that to happen. Lol… But there does seem to be a shift of late on this board of negativity for some reason. I know that is why there are a bunch of former high post members that are now just lurking instead of commenting. Lately it seems that of you make a comment to offer some help or advice an argument ensues. Not sure what is going on, but I do find it frustrating at times. I for one have backed off quite a bit for the same reason.

Frank, as a reminder this is the final color combo for the car. The hood and side stripes will be very subtle.

That's because there are some big egos here, and some people simply can't stand to be told their idea or opinion isn't the greatest, or that they're wrong about anything. You either have to tell them that their idea is great (or car looks great), or keep silent. Otherwise, you're being "rude". Well, why even be on a discussion forum if that's all you're supposed to do??

Hey. I've been wrong about stuff, and I've been corrected. I don't get a complex about it and act like I've been victimized. I've seen a bit of that around here lately.

And here's a news-flash for some people: You may think you know what you like or that something looks great until someone brings your attention to something you never saw or thought of before.

This has happened to me, and it can happen to you.
