Shouldn't be a problem for me. If I remember put it in my schedule that is.

Yes. Just to clarify the plan is to meet at 11:00am at the Park Central parking lot (Central and Thomas area). There is a deli there so we can grab some lunch together if we are so inclined.

Hey fellas, just got back to the forum... a meet sounds great.. but i can't do saturday.. and then the Sunday of that weekend are the 1/2 mile runs out in Gila Bend... other than that any other sunday wound work for me...

As far as the comet.. I've been working on it lil by little... tomorrow I am doing the rear shackle bushings and I am considering selling the GT40x heads and getting some TFS s... I am not happy on the power level of the engine... My old comet had the same combo but with 200cc Windsor Sr.s so I'm leaning on the Gt40s being the culprits... car went 12.6 at 107 at wild horse 2 weeks ago... my old comet would have gone 12.0 @ 111 or so....

Anyone one here local that is willing to share their knowledge on Holley carbs? I have a a stumble on accel that i have tried all kinds of different cams and squirters.. but it doesn't seem to go away.. Sunday I am leaning to putting the car back to stock and start fresh... Its not backfiring.. so maybe i have gone to far and am actually in the rich side.. the wideband is going on tomorrow..

I'm not an expert by any means but I do believe different types( ie large window versus small holes) and vac ratings on the power valve may make a difference in addition to the pump cams and squirters you mentioned. Also, do you have the accel pump adjusted properly and what is the volume of the pump in cc's? All items to consider IMHO.

Lol Gene... your actually the guy I was thinking about when I wrote that.. I remember you tinkering with the carb on your car on dyno day.. this will be somewhat long winded but.. it needed to be clear on the situation... As you guys may know I am living in the coattails of my 71 Comet gt that I built 15 years ago +... it was a windsor sr. headed stock 93 roller 302 out of a mustang gt.. victor jr 750DP, e303 cam 1/58 headers to dual 3 inch exhaust.. all the thing people always said that was too big for a 302 have made more and more power on that car... when i sold the car I kept the 750DP.. a 4779-2... its been lent out and on different cars.. fast forward to now.. Ryan tells me there is a comet for sale that is cheap in price and it may be a gt...

well its not.. but I say f it...and buy it... trying to loosely copy the 71GT.. I get my hand on another stock roller motor out of a 92 GT that has been sitting for years.. strip it down and assemble it like the GT with the only difference being the heads.. were I cheapskated out and not wanting to flycut the pistons... I bought a new set of GT40Xs.... the same 750 DP is slapped on top of the Victor jr... and i have the hesitation on acceleration.. exactly when i press on the peddle.. doesn't even have to be WOT... today I disconnected the secondaries and change the cam back to the pink cam and the front squirter to a 32 from the 40 with the hollow bolt... but ran out of time and had to go to work so I took the raging focus!!!!

the one thing that I am missing is the little weight/ check valve that goes under the squirter.. don't know how critical that is.. but I am in search of one to try it out.. I used to think I had holleys covered... but this one has proven me wrong.. and yes I did go thru it a few months ago so everything is clean... at least it should be lol....

the 750dp.. 47779-2 30 cc pumps, 3.5 power valve jets are at 76 and 82 if i recall.. and the current squirters are 32 and 35.. at one point i had 40 and 40!!!!!!!! the one issue also.. is that the carb is originally a 2 corner idle.. i cracked the base plate and ordered a new one from holley.. well the new one is 4 corner idle and has these two passages that go to the rear that are blocked off with slugs.. well i drilled a channel thru the slugs to mimick the original base plate.. that actually seemd to have made the car idle smoother and better on cold starts..

This is the official announcement of this event!! (y)

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! It’s time for another Maverick/Comet mini-meet here in sunny Arizona as our last one was back in November of 2012! The plan is to meet up at the Park Central Mall parking lot (near the deli) at Central and Osborn in central Phoenix on Saturday December 13th at 11:00am. Lunch at the deli is an option. I’m hoping this location will better serve our east side members. Hoping to see lots of Mavericks and Comets in attendance!!!! Our rain date will be Sunday December 14th at the same time. See you all there!!

For more details and maps go to www.maverickcometclub.org and click on the Event Calendar tab.

Hey Alex, What power is your car putting down? and you still running the C4? I think my car should run a number close to that and Id be happy with it.

the car put down like 272 with he stock mechanical fan.. then i pulled the fan off and ran it and it gave 283.. so it now has a spal electric fan... The TFS 11R 190s are the ones I am lusting over.. they have given 25-to40 horse over the GT40x... but are 1800 duckets!!!
