I am currently swapping from front drums to disc in my '72 Comet GT using '73 Mustang parts. What disc master cylinder works best and do I need a proportioning valve ? Also, do I need an adjustable rod to the brake pedal?

You will need to use a Maverick pushrod because the Mustang pushrod will set the pedal too high from the floor. The adjustable pushrod doesn't adjust enough to get the pedal low enough without cutting the length and adding more threads. I am using the drum brake proportioning valve without any issues with disc brakes

On my last Mav I used an aftermarket 7" booster and the stock maverick MC with a granada proportioning valve. I also have that same setup on my 65 fairlane, both cars brakes worked great!! Now, on my latest Mav, I am using the same 7" booster and am using a 89 Ranger MC, with the stock Maverick drum brake prop valve. So far I havent driven this new setup but have backed the car in and out of the garage, and so far I am not liking what I have, the pedal goes too far down before the car stops. Soooo, I am thinking about adding the granada prop valve instead of the stock mav valve and see how that works.

Also with these setups an adjustable pedal rod needs to be made. I use the original rod and cut it down, then weld a threaded adapter to that rod, That way I can adjust the pedal height.

I'm using a 76 stock manual master cylender with a npd adjustable rod. No other mods... works good.. I'm going to put rear disc brakes on it soon...

I used a 74 disc master on my 73 when I converted, I left the distribution block alone, and used the pushrods that was in the car.

Do you have disc or drum brakes in the rear?
