Before I was into Mavericks I was into 57 Fords. Picked this up recently to go with my 57 2 door wagon.

Schweet, I like... Lowered a bit and the wheels are great...

BION I had a Country Sedan as my 1st car, was great for haulin' surfboards and friends... Sold it after a year and wound up with a '58 Fairlane with the 300Hp 352...

When you were a kid, you wouldn't want to be seen riding around in your parent's station wagon but now they are all so cool :thumbs2:

When I was 16 I had a 2 door hardtop 500 I bought for $75. I put a 390 4 speed in it. Was a blast. I have a good friend back in MD who has a 58 2 dr hardtop and a 58 Ranchwagon. He will be retiring and moving down this way sometime this year.

I didn't get into my own swaps till a couple years after the '57...

When I was 18 I bought a '64 Galaxie fastback from a neighbor that I yanked the 289, three on tree & 3.25 rear to install a 390, three on tree & 3.50 rear from a wrecked '64 at the local salvage yard(had less than half mileage of mine)... About a year later a abandoned 390 '64 Sunliner donated it's T-10 four speed...

Six or eight months after I sold the '57 I did have to help my friend that bought it install another 292, broke the timing chain, wasn't pretty...

my cousin took over the uncles 57 2 door hard top original 312 2 speed automatic .. started with what things we could do as kids.... new to us wheels and tires..jy bucket seats etc...ran it that way a few years till neighbor totalled his 429 /c6 ranchero...old 57 had a new fire in it for sure....that conversion went thru several versions...swapped to 4 speed for awhile back to c6...engine rebuilt/bored..CJ heads..2x4 intake and carbs..definite attention getter

I think '57 Fords are another good looking car design. I have read somewhere that Ford actually made more cars that year then the other cars makers. And my 1st car would have been a '57 2-door sedan with a 390, automatic for $200.00 but my Dad thought better of the idea.

In '57 Ford out sold Chevy by something like a 1000 units, normally Chev carried a 15-25,000 advantage... Plymouth was generally a distant third...

Here's a couple nice '57 I shot at a car show in NC a couple years ago...

    This Ranch Wagon was stock...

This Custom 300 looked stock but had a 1965-ish 390 under the hood...

Wish my Ranch Wagon looked as good as that one. Here is the only picture I have of my 57 I had at 16. The Mercury in the foreground was a 63 Monterey with a factory 390 4bbl 4 speed. Did not have the S55 package. Just a stock Monterey. Thats a rare car I wish I would have kept.
