Hi Paul. Another one for your list. Just added 1K93F221588 to my collection. Got damaged in transit to Des Moines, so now I'm looking for a new grabber hood. Bummer.

Thanks for sharing, Dianne! Your new VIN has been added to the 1973 VIN Resource:

Thanks for sharing, cella7! Your new VIN has been added to the 1971 Resource:

I aso noticed that there was a recently-on-E-Bay Grabber listed just before YOUR VIN on the list. Is it the same car, and maybe the seller made a typo when listing, or maybe it's just coincidence?? I listed your VIN as written, but if one of the two is in error, let me know and I will change either the VIN or the e-Bay listing to show you as owner.
BTW< that sucks about your hood. How bad is it damaged?

Is there something that tells if it's a grabber in the VIN number? I don't see anything on the title to tell the difference?

Is it the 93 in the VIN number or something?

Yes...the "93" in the 3rd and 4th digits is the key to being a real Grabber.

That's pretty cool :) I didn't know and the title doesn't say Grabber on it.

If someone tries to sell you a '70 Grabber, it's worth noting those have the std 91 in the VIN, 93 didn't start till the '71 models(as did 92 for first year 4dr)...

You're correct on that VIN... the seller had a typo and listed it ending in 586. It's the same car.

When the shipper was unloading the car, it rolled forward and hit the front of the trailer on the top of the hood. The main dent is about 6 inches across... perfectly in the center and about 8 inches from the front, and right above the framing on the underside of the hood. It's in a tough spot to pound out. The shipper has been great and said to either let him know the repair cost, or to find another hood and he'd replace it.

Thanks! 586 is now gone! Have you considered maybe a Maverick Man carbon-fiber hood as a possible replacement? Decent used steel hoods are going for $400+ lately.

It is pricey, but it eliminates the worry of rust, the worry of tracking one down and, of course, the weight-savings are an added benefit. Have you gotten an estimate on the cost to repair the hood? A good body person with a stud welder could probably save the hood. I'd rather repair dents than rust...

Good Luck with the hood, and I hope it all turns out for you.
