If You Could Build Any Engine

    I think most of us have had that perfect engine that they always wanted to install into the Maverick or Comet for street/strip or just strip action. My personal favorite is a 363 Clevor with CNC ported CHI Cleveland heads. I had a number of Cleveland headed engines and loved them all. I came within a microsecond of pulling the trigger on it too. My decision was based on the restrictive headers that would have been required in keeping the stock towers.

    Any builds out there just waiting for the decision to, "pull the trigger"?

    I'm thinking the new Boss 302 would be my choice. But there are several really good options available today.

    All aluminum 351/427 stroker. Weighs the same as an iron 302.

    I1d like to have Dyno Don Nicholsons cammer mav.That mtr is probably one of the most expensive to build,but no one else would have one.I have seen mildly built ones making 700 plus ,no sweat,& it would take real balls to drive one.I bet Nicholsons car was a real handful,& if you`ve ever had the opportunity to here one idling in the pits,nothing else sounds like them.Just look them up on your computer & watch some of the dyno pulls,hearing them idle gives me chills thinking about putting the petal to the mat & hanging on.This is supposedly the most powerful mtr Detroit ever built!

    After installing my AJE front end, I'm thinking it work be cool to install a Kaase Boss 9. My boss has one of his 600cid packages that makes 940hp on pump gas. Intake to pan was about $20k, but we had to assemble it.

    I'm helping my boss build one for his new 64 Comet.
    Very expensive!

    Yeah,I believe you could build a boss 429 cheaper than a cammer without a doubt.

    Dan,

    That would be my number 2, as I loved Dyno Don, being old enough to see him race his SOHC Maverick in person. In the mid 70's, I actually had everything to build a Cammer except the block. Bought it off of an A/FD dragster racer by the name of Frank Jarvis in Akron, Ohio. Had to sell it to buy basic transportation to get me to school.

    Nicholson was one of the kindest racers I ever met. Always had time for anyone, no matter how busy he was.

    Always could. My boss has and original Cammer in a Fairmont Futura and had an original Boss 429 in his Fairmont box top. The Kaase engine starts with a Ford Racing A460 block and his heads......none of the parts are original stuff. On one of my boss's previous engine we actually had to modify the original Boss 429 block for the Kaase heads.

    So many choices....at this very moment I would love to have the new 5.2 in the GT350. Love the sound of the flat plane crank and it makes great power too.

    Im currently building a super charged 363 stroker thats going to run e85 and will produce around 1000HP with plenty of boost

    I went with this choice because I can easily roduce lots of HP without the weight of a big block and without the cost of big block parts. I know someones going to say with the money i spent on the all dart setup I couldve gotten teh same power from a non boosted big block but theres no way to get rid of the extra weight to power ratio between the small block and the big block.

    When you think about it, that $20K is not that bad considering you are buying decades of Kaase's experience along with it. Heck, large outboard motors are topping $20K these days.

    Yup , that's the car. it has looked the same for the last 20 years.

    My windsor engines are making 750 plus hp, they are around $13k. It is a really good deal.
