What kind of engine combo are you running to produce those MPH numbers? Is it all engine or are you spraying it?

I'm surprised you even got it into the 12's on those tires!

Nice numbers. I agree with everyone else. There should be a lot more in it with some decent tires and traction. Nice job!

These tires hook better than you would think. Im only spinning about 10 ft max. and I don't have a clue how to launch it yet. Guys that have their cars sorted out with these tires in the Factory Appearing Stock Tires series (F.A.S.T.) run in the high 9s on these tires. Its all in the setup and power.

I know what you're saying here. All we're really getting at is that you'll never be able to really hit that tire in the first 10 feet to maximize the combo's potential. Too much gear and too much throttle and you're done. As the video told us.. over 800 horsepower with purposely detuned torque curves only puts you in high 9's.. and that speaks volumes right there.

And despite those original molds being used on the re-pops.. the belt and rubber technology has certainly marched onwards to give a superior tire to the early original so I can easily understand that traction isn't quit as bad as would be expected.

What specific brand tires are you running on this car? And more importantly.. why this specific brand of tire?

I also noticed the drive-train restrictions mentioned in the video and it appears that your car wouldn't be legal for that FAST class racing anyways. So, what gives here?.. can you paint a better picture of the whyfor's for those of us who may be more curious?

My desire was to build a stock looking sleeper street car. Not a drag car.

Many years ago my car went 7.70 in the 1/8 mile on 14" bfg tires. It takes some practice to get the 60' right. I went some 1.80 60'. I even won the Chattanooga quickest muscle car Trophy.lol congrats and enjoy!

Ok.. got it now.. makes sense.

Those little weenies will draw them in and make em' think they got you in about the first half.. until you get moving and come up on that head and cam to allow sight of that oddly entertaining.. "ahhh..sheet!!!".. disgusted look on their face as you continue to sail right away at about the 660' mark. Cha.. ching! I like it.. I want one too.

So, now let me ask you this. Why not the same tire and wheel but in 15" diameter?

You'd get a bigger contact patch out of that deal.. and the car will easily MPH better with the power/weight you've got here.

Ha, I did drive around a newer Camaro in the timeslip posted! That was pretty fun to be honest.
I could have went with the 15"s and would have had more tire choices too, but since the car came with 14"s that's what I went with. Im making some improvements to the Mav which should help it get down the track faster. Porting the intake, 4:30 gears, adjustable rancho shocks in rear, underdrive pulleys or electric water pump, and a shift light. Then I still got the QTPs to put on too. Oh and most important.. get the big jets back in it.

Looks like Cal-Trac bars. If so, you shouldn't have any wheel hop.

Back in the day, there was a plain white, 4 door Mercury Marauder with a very strong FE under the hood. He would come to the track (Dragway 42), pop off his hub caps and race. Full exhaust and quiet as a mouse, it ran consistent 13's. Left a lot of hanging jaws when the ET flashed on the board.

yeah.. Caltracs.. that's why I asked about adjustments early on.

And saw the air-shock bladder in the pic and forgot to ask if you reinforced the mounts yet?

If not?.. air-shocks or not.. reinforcements wouldn't hurt this little overpowered street cars rear suspension integrity one little bit.

I do know one thing for sure. I really really really(yeah.. a lot) want to see vid's of a run down the track once you get the suspension sorted out. Street tires vs cheater run differences would also be VERY cool to see.
