My own tweaks were made to Chrysler Surf Blue Met for the main color, and Toyota Speedway Blue for the stripes.

The beatings shall continue until morale improves. Great car,post,build,thread,...if you close your eyes you can't hear any negativity.

    Joe,

I have been busy this winter on a few different projects. It has slowed me down. But I have been plucking away at it. Slower than I had hoped, but making some progress. I don't come here much any more so it doesn't occur to me to update this thread. I will try an keep you guys up to date on things as I get things to really show you.

It's a shame, for a forum I once checked in with daily has now become once every few weeks. There are quite a few of us regulars that don;t do much here any more, we all post now on the Maverick group or with each other on Facebook.

    Thanks for the inquiry.......

    Glenn

Hi, Sorry if this post sound long winded, but I passionate about Mavericks. I haven't posted in a long time.
Part of the reason is life's gotten in the way of my build over the years, but I still plan to make it happen. Until then I live vicariously through guys like yourself. I have been following your build from the start, and love it. You have a good eye for detail. My favorite is the front fascia. It looks like it could have been factory. It's great to see someone not afraid to spend time and money on a Maverick. Your car is one of those that proves a Maverick or Comet is as worthy a project as Mustangs, Camaros, Chevelle est. I don't understand those that can't see that. I love cars! To me the brand doesn't matter as long as it has potential.

I do envy that if your customizing or restoring a mainstream muscle cars you can order most original and aftermarket custom parts and accessories that just bolt right on like factory. Our cars require more research and work. I think its worth it to have a truly unique car.

I have defiantly noticed many differing opinions on what's cool or should or shouldn't be done to a maverick or comet. It's perfectly fine to give an opinion as long as someone's not a ass about it. A smart man welcomes constructive criticisms and view points. Weigh the good and bad, but ultimately build what you want. I think most people would agree a big key to modifying a cars appearance successfully is making sure changes made flow or complements the over all shape and contours of the car. It sounds like common sense, but we have all seen cars where you can't help, but just shake your head because the proportions are so bad. This might sound cheesy, but despite disagreements we may have this forum to me is about sharing our knowledge and love we all share for Mavericks and Comets so lets keep building more and more amazing ones.

Ok guys, here it is. While I have been making some progress, it is slow. I took on a side job for a friend I have known since kindergarten. She and her husband are building a pro touring 69 Camaro and asked me to do just the metal work for now. Well that turned into replacing everything but the roof and fire wall, seriously. It is now done and gone, that part of it anyway and I am now back on my Maverick. However, I started a new job a few months ago that is leaving me with little spare time to work on the car for now. It will settle in soon enough, but for now I am sneaking in an hour here and there as it comes. I am now the PPG Automotive Refinish Rep for Connecticut. I worked for a distributer before, but now I am an actual PPG paint rep.

Where does the car stand now you ask? Well the front spoiler, my custom made front valance along with the stone guard are all in final primer and ready for a sand and paint which I am planning on doing next weekend. The dash, lower panel I custom made along with the gauge bezel I made and the tilt steering column are now all in final primer as well. They will all be painted body color, but with a matte clear just like the engine compartment has.

I have also been welding up some metal to the rear quarter window frames to get a gap more appropriate of my tastes. Hoping to get them done soon and in primer as well.

So here is the gap I hate......

Welded on some metal to the edge. Welded it complete, just tacked on here.

And with all the welds ground down. Still needs a little tweaking, but this is much better.

And speaking of adding things to the stable, here is the horse we just bought for my girls. This is my 15 year old daughter Hailey riding Leira, a 7 year old quarter horse.

Also, looking back I realize I never posted pictures of the engine ready to be dropped in when the time comes.
