I have to agree with Craig. If your staying with the rims you have. Let them measure the wheel wells an back space. Good luck an have fun.
I would go conservative for now until he decides the build direction he wants the car to go. Currently I have 215/70-14 BF Goodrich tires on front and 245/60-14 BF Goodrich tires on the rear all on 7" wide rims. No rubbing anywhere. Bruce
Mom, I was conferring with a senior member of this website concerning your effort to get the perfect tire and wheel combination for your son's Comet. If you have not already made a commitment, it might be best to take the tire and wheel dimensions you have determined meet your needs and consult a local tire installer rather than ordering on line.
Gentleman, I so appreciate everyone input ! Today, I woke up thinking I am going to buy 2 used front tires , put them on and drive the comet to tire store ! BUT, of course there is always a but !, He choose Wheel Vintique Chromo 54 series rims and it seems no one in my area sells them. I can only get them online. grrrr How do you guys do this lol Thanks Again, Annie
Nice choice, now you have to decide on the width and the backspacing. If you go more than 4.25" BS you will likely have to run a spacer depending on the tire, don't go more than 4.5" on a stock width rear.... Look we(members) can give you numbers all day long...wheels and tires are not a cheap investment, go to a local wheel guy, it will give you and us peace of mind...all the posts above are correct. With that being said you can see that the variables are damn near infinite. Go to the local guy and get your tire and wheel width/backspace numbers, then you can go online and order your style of wheel with the width/backspace requirements spec'd by your local guy
tires are ready to be put on but front caliper is rubbing back of rim because fronts are disc brakes and the rims are made for drum brakes! might end up putting spacers on them but not sure ill upload pictures asap! thanks for the help
