I'm looking into getting a high volume water pump but I forgot if I need a pump that turns clockwise or counter clockwise, I have a 1968 302 in my car.

When it is running, which way is it turning when you are facing it?

    Or am I missing something?

All V belts are clockwise... Serpentine can be either depending on how pump is driven...

He simply needs a "standard rotation" pump. Forget the clockwise/counterclockwise thing. That'll just confuse the "parts people" down at the local parts emporium when they're looking at the computer screen that tells em what to do. And if you're buying an aftermarket pump, save your money. You should be able to get a high volume pump at the local parts house. Just ask for the "extra cooling" or A/C, Police/Taxi pump. These should have the larger HV impeller in them. A quick comparing it to a non HV pump will confirm this.

actually it does help because I ordered one from summit and from what I saw they list theirs either clockwise or counterclockwise.

I didn't mention Summit. And even then, who's to say what direction it actually turns when you consider the buyer could be looking from either end of the motor ? What's clockwise viewed from the front of the car is counterclockwise when looking from the driver's seat. So, then you have to ask yourself, which end was determined by the vender to be correct ?

I did some research and the clockwise pump I ordered is standard rotation.

I suspect they figured it out long ago, direction is always determined by looking at front of engine...

But I've never seen that mentioned in anything regarding this in looking at specs. Which is why I made this a part of this thread. You certainly won't find it in dealing with the counterperson at parts houses.
