From my website...Street-dressed weight-2980 lbs, with full tank, spare tire, tool box, etc. But that is with 200 lbs of me in it. So if you have shed 300 lbs, that sounds like a step in the right direction! Otherwise you are only down about 100 lbs, or if low tank of gas, about 50. Are you in the car during this weight?
The car weighs 2900 with me in it with stock block 347 but will weigh 2980 with 418w dart block. Should make around 200 hp more than 347 did,I will know in the next couple of weeks ,after I put it on the dyno I will post numbers when done.
If your car weighs 2900 with you in it, I think you have plenty of weight to shed. When I weighed the car above, it still had 302 with all metal in tact. No weight savings other than small bumpers. No fiberglass parts, nothing except some shock tower mods, which were replaced with 1/4" steel plate, which was probably heavier after it was done. Oh, one door was 1973 without the reinforcement bar, which is probably a good 40 lbs. My issue was how much weight to shed and still keep it solid and safe on the streets. I kept the 74 door with the heavy crossmember...just in case.
My '72 Grabber with full interior and all stock body panels and a 1/4 tank of gas weighs 2,840 pounds without me in it. That is with a aluminum head, aluminum intake 302 and a C4 and 8 inch rear. That is also with 15x8 and 15 x 4 Weld Rodlite wheels. I agree that there should be some more weight to save in your car.
My 73 4 door was 2695, 2880 with me in it with only a front bench seat inside. Car was weighed without a hood and front bumper, but I also have about 60 lbs worth of turbo stuff. Could be even lighter with all door reinforcements removed.
My 70 model weighed 2505 totally gutted,10 point cage, steel headed 351w,c4 & a Moser 35 spline axeled rear w/ a glass hood,no lexan.I`ve since added 2 more roll bars & will be running a Jerico or a Liberty trans w/ a steel bell housing & a steel headed 351w when the car is finished.I expect to be about 150lbs heavier, then add another 200 for me.
2660's a good weight if that includes the cage or roll bar, a cage adds back a lot more. Our 71 is 2700#, 12 point cage, 4-link, glass hood, 351w,C4.
Rick,It was a pro street car with sound deadner, full carpeted inside tubes and all with roll cage. Put my 418w on the dyno today , hope to get some numbers friday or saterday.
The last time I put mine on the scale it was 3080 with me @ 230. That was with a full cage ( mild steel),fiberglass hood and bumpers, and a dart block 347. I'm wondering what it is going to weigh in the new trim, AJE front end, Lexan windows, and a 9.5 deck Dart block.
Ray,A 8.2 dart block weighed 165 and a 9.5 SHP dart block weighed 205 and my old stock 89 gt block weighed 125 so I just added 80 lbs. to the nose of my car. Good idea ? With some timing and air bleed changes today the 418w made 685HP @ 7400 and 545 TQ @ 5700. I just came back from Summit with some bigger high speed air bleeds ,we'll see what that dose tomorrow. 690 ?
Rick,It has a older set of twisted wedge R 206 intake runners that are now 210 , flowed 350@.700 had them flowed at FOX LAKE. Final numbers today were 692.8 HP @7300 and 548.5 TRQ@ 5600 .
