Thanks Rusty! I've always wanted a set of those wheels ever since I saw the Stallion Brochure when I was 13 years old.
Got the rear end assembled and installed into the car. Just some pads and rotors left to install and then I can get my tires mounted on my rims, and I'll be "Rollin'"!! Picked-up my tires a couple of days ago, too. P215/70R14... getting hard to find choices for 14-inch tires. Normally I'm NOT a big fan of white letter tires, but considering the wheels I'm running and the period look I'm after, I convinced myself that I would go RWL rather than BSW. I wasn't thrilled with the BSW look my car had when I first got it. I hope the BFG's look right. I guess I'll know soon enough.
The rear discs are 1996-2002 Ford Crown Victoria. A friend here in town had a couple of sets of NOS backing plates/caliper brackets.
Thanks! Before I even started with the rear disc conversion, I was able to test-fit my 14-inch Factory Slots on the back of my Father's 1999 Crown Vic which has the same brakes. The ends of the caliper bracket rubbed ever so slightly on the inside of the wheel. An 1/8th inch spacer fixed this. Not crazy about running spacers, but what are ya gonna do?? LOL I also used longer 2" studs.
Thanks Frank! Your own attention to detail has given me great motivation! Thank You, Rusty! It felt like the right thing to do. I think they will pull-off the look I'm going for.
...ummm... no. Thanks anyway! It's a stretch for me to be even considering white letters, so yellow probably won't happen.
Got the RWL BFG's on the rims today! After supper, I got the wheels on the car and the car is now out of jack-stand purgatory!!
