Got it, no cavities for steam to accumulate and produce pressure. Makes perfect since just not familiar with the LS, thanks!
No progress yesterday, I had to fix a rear end noise on my fathers 86 convertible..... Today however I got quite a bit done..... I removed the rest of the front brake lines, master cyl, steering column..... The steering column was a lot of fun to get out of the way, because of the cage dash bar I have to remove the under dash package try which causes me to have to remove the pass side speaker/kick panel and dash bracket(fun-fun-fun)..... Then I cut the bulk of the lower control mounts off the chassis, I also cut out the front strut rod cross member..... Next I spot drilled and removed all the remaining parts of the brackets off the inside of the front subframe rails..... Just need to get all the pieces off the under side of the rails, the I can start cleaning all the remaining bumps off everything..... Here's what the interior looks like all torn apart..... Here is the front, before cutting stuff out and then after chopping out big pieces..... Here it is with all the brackets were taken off the inside of the frame.....
Finally had a little time after work again today..... I got the last steam port line made, polished and installed..... This one was the toughest to made due to the position of the oil pressure sensor position, but I got it in there.....
Can you elaborate a bit more, Frank? What's your front suspension plan? And what about the exhaust? Headers or manifolds? And yeah.. pretty sweet looking. I've always dug color matched power-plants.
I am basically using an AJE k-member and control arms..... But instead of using there struts which I don't particularly like, I am going to use stock fox Mustang V8 spindles with Strange adjustable struts with coil overs and fox caster/camber plates(they have much better adjustment then the AJE ones)..... As for exhaust, it's going to have a little 76mm t4 turbo I have had for a while..... I am not sure yet if I am using manifolds or building custom headers for the turbo kit, I need to get a motor mocked up in it so I can figure out what will fit best..... Once I get the suspension all how I want it I will get a mock up motor in it.....
Thanks for the response. Sounds very similar to what I hope to do as well. Will you also narrow/profile the shock towers a bit to take advantage of the smaller coil overs smaller space requirement? And a quick heads up on those manifolds too. As you probably already know, there are now TONS of boosted LS stuff running around and very many turbo manifolds as a result. You might be able to mod something off-shelf rather than a full custom setup. I look forward to seeing your progress.
Thanks Rusty..... The shock towers are definitely getting cut, I just don't know how much yet..... Yes there is a lot of LS turbo stuff out there, it's just a matter of what might fit..... I tend to like building my own so I can fit everything the way I like it..... I am not opposed to the possibility of using exhaust manifolds, we will just have to see what fits the best.....
Some good pic's of what you want to do. Don't think you will have to cut as much as this guy did due to the Coyote being at least 4 inches wider than your LS. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=782090
There is a thread about that car on this site and I have seen it in person a couple times at the races..... I am not sure how far I am going to move the towers, but the more room the better as long as its not sacrificing strength.....
