For surface rust (I have both that and some areas that unfortunately the rust has eaten through; for this I know there's no solution but cut out and weld). But for just surface rust, which of these products is the best?

This is on the outside body, not underneath. Thanks.

Por 15 works great, as long as it does not get sunlight on it. I have an experimental spot on the side of my truck bed that I put por-15 on about 8 years ago, and it turned gray and chalky about 2 years later. As of today, still not rusting, but ugly.

Where I have used it under and inside the car, still shiny and looks like powder-coated black.

I've used Rust Bullet Black Shell with great results - some of it's been still solidly attached to the undercarriage for 5 years now and still shiny black :thumbs2:

I wish they had the black when I did my cars. I used the silver on everything with excellent results. But the black would have made the undercarriage so much easier.

I sprayed the whole car with rust bullet after welding then did the body work , then primer worked great kinda pricey but I never have to worry about it rusting out again

I've used "Chassis Saver" with good success.

I've used eastwood's rust converter with great success. Easy to use, and ready to paint fairly quickly. Did some parts that were surface rusting and it worked well. Also used on my floor pans. Caution, use aircraft paints tripper before using the rust converter products. It allows the product to actually work. If not, you'll have a bad finish and the rust will not be converted.

Cutting and patch welding areas is necessary, but elimination of rust is more important. Stop the spread of rust

Eastwood's "Rust Encapsulator" will literally peel off. Try removing POR15. You can't without blasting or grinding it off.

I won't use any of Eastwood's products. Three bad experiences with them and they're out.

'Makes me think it wasn't really POR15. Either that or wasn't prepped correctly. I haven't tried Rustbullit but I don't doubt you.

Rust Bullet here. Pretty nice formula they have come up with. It dries hard as metal.

I'm going to be doin a bit more rust work on the Mav, and I'm all done with eastwoods products. Didn't have anything bad to say, but if I don't have to wait for shipping, that's a plus in my book.
