Does anyone produce a hood stripe decal for a nonGrabber hood in flat or satin black? I have searched the internet with no luck.

You could go with a '72 Sprint stripe...or 73-74 Grabber stripe

I'm not sure what you are looking for. Do you want the 71-72 style but for a non-scooped hood? If so there is nothing I know of made for that stock hood other than a Sprint type as Jeff said, but it would be very easy to lay out the design with tape and shoot it yourself (or your painter). The black I use for a stock look is SEM Hot Rod Black.

What I was trying to achieve was to use a basecoat/clearcoat paint on the car. However, I want the back around the taillights and the hood to be painted satin or flat black. The back section around the lights would be easy to paint black and use a satin clearcoat because the edges of the black are hidden. The hood would be a different story. The black section would be clearcoated in satin while the rest of the hood would be clearcoated in gloss. There would be tape edges in the clear using this method. I then thought about getting a decal for a non-Grabber hood in satin black and applying it after the hood was clear coated.

What I am trying to avoid is when using basecoat/clearcoat paint, you could use satin black paint but if you clearcoated it with a gloss clearcoat, the end result would be a gloss black.

I guess if you are going to use basecoat/clearcoat paint then the black on the hood should end up gloss with the clearcoat on the entire hood being gloss.

A decal similar to the hood stripe in the attached pic is what I was looking for

That is a picture of a 70 Grabber Hood and there are no decals for it. It has to be laid out in tape and sprayed on.

Exactly what I did with my '70, is paint the BC/CC and than do the tail panel and hood with the SEM Hot Rod Black. On a '70 Grabber the black extends beyond the hood onto the cowl. Goes right up to the windshield.

The side stripe on my car is a 3M vinyl made by Graphic Express.

    Hope this helps ...........

Paint your base/clear then do the stripes in a satin black or as Eric used on his...SEM Hot Rod black...The stuff is very nice to work with and will yield the satin finish you disere.( The stuff is bullet proof too) wears like armor plating!!! As for the tape edge only apply enough paint to achieve uniform color/ hiding and the edge will be minimal. You wont get away from having a tape edge unless you do some very creative/careful masking, and you will still have a line between the colors and you may end up with a depth issue between the colors...

I believe '71 was solid and painted on. '72 had the strip up the middle and were a sticker.
