Truth be told, I actually like the black on it. I stopped for a minute and tried to picture it in the engine bay like that but with a red valve cover and air cleaner... I'm happy with the POR-15 Ford Corporate Blue. Its close to what the original was. I used the POR-15 regular rust paint as a base coat, on the recommendations of Boss 302 forums. It made the difference as far as coverage for the Blue. I only had a pint of the blue!
Nice!! In some years Mercury used yellow valve cover(s) on black engines, but don't think I've seen same on a Ford... Would have been interesting in a yellow car...
Got my transmission cleaned-up and ready for new seals, gasket and filter. I would like to get the engine and transmission installed this week. Also, I am done painting and sanding my roof. Just waiting on my vinyl guy to give me a date for installation. He'll be installing the headliner and glass too.
I dug the vinyl top out of the box and laid it on the roof. I'll park it out in the sun for a few afternoons to help relax the material, and it will also serve to keep stuff (and people's oily fingers) from contaminating the roof surface prior to adhesive application.
Nice job Paul!!! The little details make all the difference. Looks like you haven't missed a single one.
