Hey guys. Scratching around under the dash and I found this wire loose coming from what I believe to be the fan motor? Above that there is a male plug with nothing attached. Given my fan doesn't seem to work I am thinking this might be the problem. Should the loose female plug be attached to that pin? Is there another wire I haven't found yet that should be connected??? I tested my fuses and power is going across the fuse. Pleeeeaaaasssseeee heeelllp!!

Yes, the orange wire goes to the single pin on the resistor (red block)...

Thanks for that. I will attach and see how I go. In the event I have power across the fuse and still no action, any other issues I should search for? Could it be that removing this wire in the first instance is because there is another issue they were trying to mask?

Yes I was thinking that. When I got her the heater hoses were diverted away from the tap that had corroded. I've since replaced the tap but the ac at the time was non op. There were no leaks from the cowl or evidence of any on the floor at the time. I've had the car running but no evidence of the core leaking. Not even sure if the tap is allowing hot water into it to tell you the truth.

I hooked the loose wire up to the male pin and nothing happened. I turned the fan switch on and still nothing. I slid the right lever down from max fresh ac to hi lo heat and bam.....it blew the fuse. Did it twice to be sure it was the switch causing it. Key was on the acc with alt light on. Any ideas on where I should be examining next? I realise there could be a multitude of shonky wiring issues committed by people under the dash over the years but I am hoping this may be a common issue. Cheers.

you said "the switch doing it". could be the blower motor shorted. something could be jamming the fan. I had a squeel in mine when I would turn a corner...I found this...:yup:

What tha??? How would that get in there? Reminds me of a scene from City Slickers when the guy examined the cow! Maybe thats how it got there? I really am lost on where to go from here. Not looking forward to pulling it out that is for sure!:nailbiting:

I suspect it fell down the defrost vent...
unplug the wire again and test it for voltage. if you turn the switch on and it blows the fuse with it unhooked then there is a short in the switch.

Well I haven't got a volt meter handy but I did go out and sacrifice a couple of fuses. The result was the lower the capacity the easier they blew. The 30A overheated and melted the end off! This all happened with the activation of the fan switch. Will get a volt meter and test it tomorrow. Cheers mate.

Also, remove the blower motor resister (the small square red block you hooked the motor wire to) and give it a visual inspection. It could be shorted as well.
