Well the car is at the body shop now. The boss told me that he can't find and measurements for the top of the inner fenders. Engine compartment measurements is what he called them. Does anyone here have those measurements? I included a picture that shows the measurements they do have. He also said that since the car has rust around the battery that when they start pulling that it may rip. It sounds like replacing the radiator support and fender apron would be better. Has anyone every used mustang sheet metal to repair a Maverick? Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Stephen
I could measure mine for you, all they really need is from cowl corner to c/l of the front fender bolt holes, and I would also measure from cowl corner to the front shock tower bolt hole. It just needs to be square. Easy/peasy, lemon squeezy!!
Stephen, I wish you would have posted this a week ago. I had my project car at the frame shop to be checked. It was perfectly straight. Had I known, I would have gotten you several reference points. Micah
OK, from the front corner of the cowl to the c/l of the front fender bolt is 62" From the same front corner of the cowl to the c/l of the front tower brace bolt is 45 3/4" Both of the measurements above are the same from side to side. Center to center of the front fender bolts is 43 3/4" This should get them to what they need.
I replaced where my battery tray was rusted out by cutting out the rust bending some sheet metal and then cutting some relief cuts in it to get the right shape and then mig welding it in it turned out really good most Fords rust out under the battery tray
That's the way everything seems to happening with this car, a week late. Thanks for the thought though. Thanks, I will get these measurements to them Monday. When Freiburger and Finnegan were driving Blasphemi across the country to start power tour last year they stopped in Albuquerque, NM for lunch.
That is what I was going to do before I got hit. I found someone that has the parts I need in California, he is going to ship them to me. Now body shop will just cut all the rusted and bent metal away and replace it. It looks like in the near future the radiator support and fender aprons will be available new from Dynacorn. They have Maverick valances and early bumper fillers now. I called and asked about the the parts I need yesterday, the parts department told me that they should be available either late this year or early next year. Since I found the parts I need already and he couldn't give a firm date on when the parts would be available I didn't want to wait. Here is a link to what they have now. http://www.dynacorn.com/ListItems.aspx
