so technically the instergrated spoiler and endcaps are taller then the factory production parts?

Also if youre leaving these carbon fiber
dont mess around with polish/wax nor sealant..
just get a surface prep like Carpro Eraser and a nano ceramic/ silane resin based coating and be worry free for atleast 2 years before another application

Will you be making any in fiberglass, or is it carbon only?
Does the grain shine trough much when you paint it? I would prefer to have it body color on mine

 

It paints as good as anything else. Nothing shines though. Here is the hood with some paint on it. The deck lid will be painted in a similar fashion.

no sorry only in carbon. you can paint carbon no problem as seen above. BUT you can do a light spray of color over the carbon which will keep the carbon look and give the color you want.

 

Finally getting around to getting this thing painted. Here is the scheme I have come up with.

First of all, here is is after it was first installed.



Now for the decisions...
-have the stripe come all the way up to the rear window?



-or give it some shape to mimic the hood stripe?

-How far down should the stripe roll over the spoiler

i would have the edges of the stripe turn at the base of the spoiler out towards the side of the car. this would leave the end caps and spoiler carbon fiber look exposed in a tasteful way. ive been day dreaming of a similar stripe for when i manage to get my hands on one of these works of art.

 

Stripe like option one...Rear face of spoiler/end caps in carbon (would tie into black tail panel nicely) And say " Why yes, it is carbon fiber"

As far as the stripe goes, I would have it go straight to the rear window. It picks up on the back of the car where the hood stripe leaves off that way .... connects them, if you want to think of it that way.
Terminating it on the back face of the the spoiler .... I would like to see it end halfway between option 2 and 3. Leave as much margin above the horizontal crease above as there is below. As the stripe comes over the peak to the back panel, mimic the angle of the endcaps a bit with curved lower corners to ease that into the horizontal profile. This would subtly tie the stripe in with the taillight shape as well. I hope this describes what I have in mind well enough ...

Option 3. Have you considered carrying it right across the roof and tieing in with the hood?

 

This is what I was going for with my stripe design. The taped corners will actually be rounded. The angle of the stripe coming over the rear of the spoiler is the same angle as the tail lights.

I might try this later on using some plasti-dip paint to see what it looks like.

 

No matter how you do it, it will look perfect.

Now, I have to say it is killing me see that on your car. I want one so badly. He said he was hoping for a September run, but that now looks like end of the year. Ugh...........
