A guy called me today for help selling his Falcon. Since it was only 10 miles from the house I went to give it a look and see. The price was right and the bank wasn't far away. Luckily I had my daughter in-law to drive my truck home. It has a 170 Six, 3 on the tree, bunch of new chrome trim, new paint, new interior. Only parts I think I will need is the correct gas cap and a new trunk emblem and maybe a Hula girl on the dashboard to finish it's restoration.

Congrat's on the new acquisition! Great looking car, real pristine looking car. I think the fender skirts really adds class to the car. Going to keep it pretty much original and use as a cruiser? :thumbs2:

Wow what a cream puff that car is, I love 63 1/2s, its begging for more power though but probably best left as it is. I have the hula girl on the dash board of my wagon

Agreed but that protruding tail pipe takes away just as much, easy fix though...

It is a really nice car, but I'd never be able to live with the 170... Maybe slip a 250 in it?? Of course that may be easier said than done...

That's a nice looking hardtop, I still miss the one I sold about 25 years ago.

Didn't notice the tail pipe until I saw the photo...it will look better tomorrow. I notice a few other things that need a little TLC, like the speedometer cluster needs light bulbs and the shift collar has see better days, but for the price I feel that I got a good deal. The 170 with a 3.20 gear is kinda peppy pulling 2450 lbs. I can feel it start to labor pulling a long steep hill. The vintage of the engine was before PCV...the smell in the garage from the road draft tube brought back memories. A 250 will fit but will have to flip the center link to get the taller engine down far enough to close the hood plus other mods. I'm going to try and keep it original as I can other than safety issues like a dual bowl master cylinder.

That is a nice looking car. I like that it has buckets and a console, ...... oh and a passenger side mirror.

Just being lazy...it was a lot easier this way. Less phone calls to make and not much leg work either.

This was my winter project. Last October what set out to be a quick repaint on the valve cover, ended up being a total rebuild of the engine. While I was waiting on the machine shop to do their thing, I decided to paint the engine bay. Everything in the engine bay including the steering box was removed before spraying 7777 paint. New wiring harnesses replace the 53 year old brittle harness. New stainless brake lines, new master and wheel cylinders was installed. The backing plates were bead blasted and painted and new shoes and hardware completed the brake system. Both upper and lower control arms, idler and tie rods was replaced. The steering box was rebuilt and got a new paint job along with the centerlink. Transmission got a good cleaning and painted with cast iron color and new clutch kit installed. Radiator got rodded and heater core got cleaned. A Gano coolant filter was bought for insurance to keep the system clean. New exhaust system from the donut to tip was bought from Waldron Exhaust replaced the local muffle shop’s screwup. A big box of new parts and pieces was installed here and there including battery tray to instrument cluster, steering wheel and horn ring. Bunch of small stuff disassembled, cleaned, painted and put back together like the heated box, steering column and shifter. I finally got the front end alignment yesterday. This morning I put about 80-90 miles on the back country roads to start breaking in the engine. All went well as planned with only a small issue that a brake spoon should be able to handle. Evidently I didn’t adjust the front brake shoes tight enough and I’m getting a slight noise over extending the shoes. Tomorrow I am going to give the engine its first oil change and look into the noise coming from the brakes.
