Ran T&T at Mason Dixon yesterday, tweaking the carb, ran a 9.46 @ 142. Ready for the "The Creek" this coming weekend!
The only thing I need to do is wash the car and load it on the trailer. Hope to see some fellow board members at MIR this weekend.
Got to go to my first IHRA divisional event. Boy what a blast! Car ran amazing all week. Driver (me) not so good. Reaction times all over the place. My only having a couple months back driving and lack of seat time was very apparent. Can't wait to do it again! Maybe by next year my driving skills will improve to the performance level of the car. My maverick is running awesome!
Lots of fun! Mark, You get your transmission figured out? Hopefully you can get that beast of yours back to the track very soon! I can't wait to hear what that car runs when you get a good straight pass. Should be exciting!
Iam going to try to get out yet this year ,working on getting trans fixed as we speak.Maybe a 9.80 in the 1/4 mi. with a fresh trans?
Went 1/4 mi. for the first time with 418w ,good and bad ,1.32 60 ft went hard right corrected it but went 1st to third gear 10.02 et on the rev limiter at 126 mph. 2nd pass 1.39 60ft went straight and ran 9.99 et at 134 mph. 3rd pass tires quit spinning in burn out box in 2nd gear 17.58 et 47 mph. But I made it back to the trailer.
I might go to Gainesville raceway tomorrow night and run quarter mile. I have a friend going. I have not had the car on a quarter mile yet. Should be fun. I will let you know how it does if I make it there.
Went to the Legends race at MIR on the 19th,go to MotormaniaTV.com & you can watch it.Over 100 stick cars were there w/ the Pro Stick group, what a show. The fastest car in the class was a Thunderbird w/ a turbo charged 4cyl,7.61 at almost 200mph,ARE YOU KIDDING ME,what a rocket.I`m going to say there were at least 400 or more cars there, well worth the price of admission, anyone in the area that did`nt go you really missed it.Gary broke, messing up his flywheel,so I ended up helping him in the afternoon so he could race on Sunday.A hard job at the trk being as we only slide the trans back about 3 inches without dropping it out of the car, just not a lot of room to get your hand between the crank & torque converter, but he got it together & did race Sunday so I was glad I could help him.His son did really well going 4 or 5 rounds in the AA class w/ his 408 Ranger,9.70s all day.I watched some of it on Sunday & Gary turned 9.50 at 145mph w/ his new 427ci mtr, that Mav is very fast.Gary & some of his friends plan to race at Eastside Dragway up in Waynesboro Va on Sat,I might try to get up & watch them.
Once again Dan, Thanks for the help, sure needed all I could get! Sunday was a non-focus day! Was late first round, bought back in and went .005 red second rd. But the car performed great with no more issues. Eastside is gonna be a wash-out, so I'm going back to MIR for the Ford Fever Race if it doesn't get rained out. Hope to see you there!
On Sunday morning of the Legends race we only had one time run. On that run I sheared the roll pin of on the distributor gear just after launching the car off the starting line. Once the roll pin sheared off the motor shut off. After I got back to the pits I discovered the distributor gear problem and put the car on the trailer. Once I got home the next day I replaced the roll pin in the distributor and put it back in the motor. I went to set the timing on the motor and broke the end of the distributor shaft off, discovering that the oil pump was locked up. At that point I pulled off the oil pan and found much debris that looked like valve seals and assorted chunks of metal. I disassembled the oil pump and found a chunk of what I later figured out was part of a valve seal spring. Next I pulled off the valve covers and discovered 3 broken valves. Upon further tear down I found 2 valve seals were destroyed, 2 inner valve springs were broken into 3 pieces and one outer spring was broken into 2 pieces. I hope to have everything back together for the Ford race at MIR on October 9th to the 11th. Here are some pictures of what I found
