Got my Deluxe Marti Report in my email. Pretty cool. I wish I could get an Elite Report with the Personalized Stats, I think this would be a low number car.

    Where is "Metuchen"?

Is that the same rearend (7.8") as the later model Granadas had?

Metuchen is in New Jersey. And no, it has a tiny 6.75" differential.

I meant 8.7. That's surprising to me. I know some Pintos got an 8-inch rear-end, and I would have assumed that by 1980, a Bobcat would have had the 8" or 8.7". Not a smaller rearend.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's a 6.75. Now you have me wondering... I'll have to check the next time I am at the shop. :thumbs2:

Hollander only lists a 8" or 6 3/4" for Pinto & Bobcat, and that's apparently all from '71 thru '80('75-'80 Bobcat)...

The 8.7" WER series is listed as used in full size Ford & Mercury from '67-'78 and Granada/Monarch for '77 & '78(Note pre '69 versions are listed with 8.5" gear)... This info is from a 1981 edition, apparently the 8.7" was axed after '78, as there are no newer listings...

    AFAIK there was never a 3.08 ratio for a 8", rear is almost defiantly a 6 3/4"...

Another cool thing the report told me was that this car was in the making during my birthday, March 11 1980. It was meant to be.

Congratulations, that is a sharp wagon! Im guessing that was probably one of the last Bobcat wagons to roll off the assembly line.

A years production was generally into mid/late July, it has a build date of March 25 so were approx four months of production remaining... Of course when one considers the replacement Escort/Lynx would soon be out, the dealers were probably setting on these for quite awhile so late year orders were likely rather sparse... Not selling till Nov kinda proves that theory...

What I find interesting is Greg had stated there were approx 5500 1980 were built and 3825 of those had a woodgrain delete for credit option... Guess that meant woodgrain was std on the Bobcat Wagon??

BTW straying here, but my Fairlane was also sold new in Salisbury... Orig owner still lives on RT 50...

So, I'm gonna take a little break from the Comet this winter. I got a lot of mini-projects done on it this past summer, but I need a temporary change of scenery, if you know what I mean. I've decided to work on the Wagon. My goal is to have it done by Spring so that I can finally have a car to take to shows.

What needs to be done you ask? Well, check it out for yourself:
