I actually joined this site in 2005 when I began my search for a Maverick or a Comet. I have used this site often for technical support but stopped posting several years ago because of the trollish behavior I encountered on this site. My transgression? I merely posted that I was looking for an relatively unmolested factory V8 Grabber. For some reason this innocent sounding post aroused the wrath of some members and I became the recipient of several mean spirited posts. Why? I still do not understand. Everyone on here I assumed was a fan of Mavericks and Comets. I felt somewhat like a Ford guy on a Chevy site. I was happy to see that some rules of decorum were adopted in 2012. I did find a car on Ebay in 2006. Not a Grabber, but a 1973 factory V8 car with a/c. Some of you may remember the car from Ebay. It was a black car and listed as a 72 when it was obviously a 73. The car was located about 100 miles from my house was quite an adventure driving home with the worn out Delco shocks and grabby drum brakes. I have upgraded the suspension with 4 leaf rear springs and 620 coils in the front with KYB shocks. Also the Grenada spindles with CSRP disc brake conversion kit. Big improvement. The car was originally medium yellow gold and I plan to return it to the original color when funds permit.

Welcome back, although I have only been a member for less than a year. Did you swap out the 6 cyl for a V8?

It was a factory 302 V8 car. I added a Holley 4 barrel with aluminum intake and Pertronix ignition. I have a set of Hedman shorty headers I hope to install this spring.

Thanks. I actually had a 71 Grabber the same color as yours in the mid 70s. It was a 302 3 speed in the floor and a bench seat. I put a 3.80 Traclok rearend and a BorgWarner T10 4 speed out of a junk yard Mustang in it. It had headers and Hush Thrush mufflers. Sounded good, ran good and looked pretty good. I still like that color scheme.

Welcome back to the board. You are in West Virginia? You are literally within a few miles of a lot of Maverick meets....including the Nationals

I am in southern WV. Talcott to be exact. Home of the John Henry legend. Haha. Earlier this year I joined MCCI, so hopefully I can make it to some of the meets.

Strange coincidence about the T10. Do you know any of your car's history? I do not have any info from my old car, but I remember that it was built in Canada. I sold it in 1979 after buying a new Ford F100.
