Is the input shaft on the t5 longer than the stock 3 speed input shaft? I need to retain the stock bell housing on the 200 six cylinder. Do I need the 1 inch spacer? Could I cut an inch off of the input shaft and remachine it?

You can use the spacer or machine the input shaft down. It was mentioned on another thread that the 200/t5 combo requires a custom pilot bushing.

Simplest way I know for Toploader to T5 conversion can use regular 84-93 Mustang V8 T5 with SBF adapter plate on the Maverick Six's stock Bellhouse for original Toploader (3.03) 3spd tranny. No special Pilot Bearing is required with V8 T5, any Small Block Ford/T5 Pilot will fit. Also you can use the later Fairmont/Mustang type diaphragm clutch for a smoother driving.
