Back On-Topic: It looks like (according to the e-Bay ad) that the car has sold?? Congrats! And it's great that you didn't have to spend any more out-of-pocket to sell it.
It is still in the process of selling. The buyer is from canada and will send the funds in two weeks. So as of now its not sold yet, "at least till I see the cash in my bank account." But things should go well I think.
Congrats on the sale, hope all goes well as it's been a long road for you. Ever since I first saw this photo shop I have been intrigued. I would love to find a clean four door and try to make this a reality. It would probably be easier to use the roof and trunk area on a two door though.
It's a cool photo shop, but why would you want to do that for real? The sports-roof is so much more attractive. Of course it may be just plain fun to do that. It would probably confuse a lot of people.
Weld the doors shut on a four door a little bondo shave the door handles and you have a stretched Maverick low rider
I can think of some pretty desirable cars with a similar roof line and I bet it might be mistaken for one of them by the non-car folks. You did hit it though, to see if I could do it and to mess with people!
exactly! It seems as I get older the way I see old "utilitarian cars"(4 doors/stationwagons/trucks) from my era in general has changed a great deal. Go ahead.. slap 4 doors and notch the rear window on that Firebird and call it a Firebird +4 or whatever.. I'd still build an engine for it and drive the living hell out of it. At least half the car would still be pretty cool looking, right? Not to mention rear passengers would be able to sit high enough to actually see out the front window for a change. Hoodscoops only make it worse. It's been my personal experience that many fastbacks just force two dudes to get uncomfortably close while they jocky for position to look around the highback bucket seats and get the best view out the front window. And when there's hot girls involved, you'll feel the car move around as they fight for the best view. PS. forgot to say I too am glad the car sold and no additional effort or expense was required. Hopefully the OP didn't mind all the tangents.. just interesting to see different cars with various customizing tastes and the mod's that are being used to add more style to familiar old designs these days. I think someone should add a wide-body kit to that 2 door conversion too! Doubtful that even Larry could say no to that sitting in his garage at the right price.
Update. The deal fell through, so it is still for sale. I have a Mustang Restorer coming from Germany to look at it next week though. Then after that I will list it again one more time after vacation. If no sale, then I will be ready to do some things to it.
